Is this what a panic attack is?

For no reasons sometimes (but most of the times there are reasons)... I will just be overcome with this rush of hot feelings and its like one hot feeling comes then I feel another coming and then another. I can feel like my hair and neck tingling and then I start to sweat. After the feelings go away I feel really cooled off and just feel really alive... its like the feeling after you have thrown up or something.. and I remain edgy and jumpy for a while... just overall generally anxious and I feel like im about to do something really stupid. I also feel at the same time like I can do anything because nothing matters (I guess BC the feeling scares me so much). Like I feel like I can talk to or do ANYTHING because I feel like im like out of my body. It sounds good, but its not lol because the feelings are horrible.

I really hate those feelings and do everything I can to avoid getting those feelings bc I had a really bad experience with them last yr.

So is what i'm experiencing a panic attack?

Yes. anxiety attacks and panic attacks are the same thing. Although what your describing sounds like a burst of nervousness.

Anyone who's had a panic attack will tell you, there's no mistaking it.

You lose all control and it feels exactly that way.

Your chest may hurt
Your heart races
You get dizzy
You hyperventilate
There's just an overall feeling like you're dying.

You can't mistake a panic attack. Anything less is just amplified anxiety.

You'll know

I am new to this site and find it very comforting to see that people share the same feelings as me, even though it's a HORRIBLE feeling to have a panic attack, it's good to know that I am not alone.
You posted asking if what you were feeling was a panic attack, another member of this group said it's probably just a burst of nervousness and if it were a panic attack, you will know. She is RIGHT! You will definitely know. The feeling is the worst feeling in the world. It's far more than sweat and tingles, it's total loss of control, reality and a sense of being DETACHED from your own body. It's terrifying, not just a little scary, it's TERRIFYING!
