Getting up on stage, being behind that camera!

When I was younger, I loved to act. I was in all sorts of commecials and things until about the age of 12. Then, my stupid shyness/SA took over. I quit, but a few years ago I was thinking about getting back into it. It was fun and easy money and it would be fantastic to have some more money saved up for school. The only thing is, is my shyness. I know there are many actors/actresses who are shy. But, I just can't seem to build up the courage to call my agent and tell her 'okay, I'm ready to give it another go...put me back on the list.' Do you think this would be a good opportunity? I'm normally not bad around strangers...I also know that many actors of today were shy as kids, and were put into musicals and stage productions by their parents to try and cure this. Anyone have experience with this type of thing? Acting behind the camera or on stage? Did it help or harm you?

Well I dont have experience with the camera or on stage so my opinion is not worth much, but imo I think you should definitely get back and see what happens than leaving and wondering what could have been, thats one of my problems I start things then leave,I started boxing in a pretty serious gym about 3 years and a half ago, left then came back and left again,by now I could have experience and even maybe some amateur fights I am pretty sure it would have helped with my confidence,I am pretty sure they wont accept if I come back there,so I am left wondering.....dont be like me...
