I dont know if any of you have been to the website socialanxietyinstitute.org but there are these tapes or cds that you can buy and they are supposed to be like actual therapy sessions. they are a little pricy but the reviews looked really good, i was just wondering if anyone has ever tried these??? because i am thinking about trying them

The Dr Richards series is a worthy investment. :D

Basically it makes you aware of unhelpful thought patterns, and teaches you to replace them with something much more realistic/rational.

Like everything else, it's certainly no miracle cure however. Also, you need to be very self disciplined because the hardest part is ensuring you practice the material 30mins everyday. I am by no means completely cured of SP, but I've definitely made good progress since purchasing the series.

When I think of the money I've spent on other treatments, the £330 I paid seems like a bargin. 8)

I've been using these for a month, actually that was how i found out i have SA. I was very skeptical at first, but i'm glad i went ahead and got them. I dont have the luxury of being able to afford a local therapist atm. So though i don't see this as the end to all my problems, it is definitely a great start. I'm already a changed person, no bullshit. It takes patience, intelligence, and a motivated person to get the most out of it, though.

As long as you have no qualms about piracy, just download the torrent for it. And I guess if it turns out you really like it, you can buy the real version.

Search for "Overcoming social anxiety step by step." Get the one with the handouts included.
