Does Avert/Robinul cause changes in taste??

I took Avert for the first time today and it worked perfectly except for a few side effects. I have minor dry mouth and a sore throat, which I'm guessing is caused by the dry mouth. This is minor and doesn't really affect me. However, I seem to have a change in the way I'm tasting things. Sweet things have a bitter after taste and salty things taste like pure salt. I was eating pasta with cheese at dinner and I felt like it was covered in table salt. Did anyone else experience this? I've read about the dry mouth going away after continuing to take it for a while, do you think it will eventually go away?

i had exact experience in terms of the side effects. i had dry mouth then sore throat but the next day i was fine. however, for my taste... i don't think i have problem with tasting food but dry mouth does cause me lose my appetite... so far, with 2mg of avert a day, i still get mild and tolerable dry mouth...

Thanks vash. The dry mouth doesn't really bother me or cause me to lose my appetite. I just hate that everything tastes differently. It's listed as a rare side effect of the drug and I haven't read about anyone that's experienced this so far. I took 4mg today, so tomorrow I'm going to try to take 2mg and see if it goes away.

Hi Celine!

I'm a longtime Avert (=Robinul) user, and don't find the taste of things to be different.

I'd keep an eye on the sore throat--could be something else.

The dry mouth thing seems to come and go--like the disease, it's very individual.

Hope the med. is helping well with the HH.
