Cognitive Behavior Therapy?

Has anyone had success with it? Sometimes I think that many of my HH episodes is social situations are self inflicted. I worry so much about it happening, that I make it happen. I thought that maybe CBT would help. So I am looking for some success stories here. Unfortunately, my guess would be that most of the success stories probably don't linger around here much.

i want to find a real statistic data how much really CBT is efficient in treating any 'disorder'. is it lost somewhere?

You claim that in treating any mostly neurological disorder , you are able to fix the problem but saying to attendant that his thought are unrealistic? You try to build confidence by telling him/her that he is in that state because he has wrong/unapproprate thoughts? Where is logic in that, and who is -unrealistic- there. Who are you to tell_anybody those stuff. Yes, i have unrealistic thoughts. And i love them more than people that are making money of everything .

Acceptance is crucial. But acceptance by the society (because nobody is born not accepting what he/she is). This rigid corrupted society lead by disturbed baboons.

Go to town on Pubmed: PubMed Home
There are plenty of studies showing the efficacy of CBT for a range of disorders.

As to sweating in particular: International Hyperhidrosis Society: Library: Sweat & Anxiety: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy Can Help

I am sure there are more studies out there.

The negative thoughts that come with having HH, I suppose are rational; because, a) people often do make assumptions about heavy sweaters  b) sweating can actually be physically uncomfortable, and can sometimes inhibit work, hobbies, etc.

However, to point a) I don't think the goal of CBT is to achieve the acceptance of others, I think it is actually quite the opposite. It's unfortunate that excessive sweating is viewed negatively by others, but if we are able to find some relief by 'ignoring' what we believe others are thinking of us (which is often inaccurate anyways), I am all for taking this approach. To point b) while sweating is often physically uncomfortable CBT may, to a degree, divert our thoughts elsewhere.

I just found this site recently, and it looks kind of interesting, if people have time to work through it: MoodGYM: Welcome

In conjunction with other HH treatments, CBT should be helpful.
