Acupuncture Treatment

I wanted to post this information so that it might help others. For years, I have been searching for a treatment that might help my son's hand and foot sweating. He also has a medical condition in his brain and he has had seizures so he is not able to do some of the other treatments or take any natural remedies like sage.

So when a friend told me she was having acupuncture to treat her allergies, I looked into that for the treatment of sweating. She referred me to her acupuncturist who had years of experience and extensive training and we went for a consultation and then he started treatments.

He went for 2 treatments a week for 3 weeks, and then 1 treatment a week for 3 weeks and now he is going every 3-4 weeks and after that, he will go for maintenance treatments every 2-3 months. Each session (we're in Canada) is $60. Our insurance covered the first $350. Our acupuncturist told us that if my son did not notice a difference after the first 2 weeks, he should stop the treatments. She said her success rate for reducing sweating was 80%.
Well, for my son, IT WORKED! His hands and feet are now warm and only slightly moist. Just feeling them warm instead of freezing cold, is a huge plus. We are both so thrilled. The acupuncture has also helped him mentally to feel more relaxed and healthy.
I have to say that before we started treatment, we were both very pessimistic. We didn't understand what acupuncture actually does but we were willing to try it because there was nothing else to do. And the best part was that it would not cause my son any harm, so why not try it?

Most important thing is to find an acupuncturist who has extensive and formal training. Research your choice and ask for credentials and go for a consultation to discuss it first. The other really important thing is to commit to the treatment and never miss an appointment because it will set you back and you won't get good results.

If this can even help one person with their hyperhydrosis, I will be happy. If anyone has any questions, please ask.

Can you please ask your acupuncturist which points on the body they chose to target for the treatment and how long they left the needles at these points?

Thank you,

C
