I think fantasy is equally as important as reality. Before there were ever online games and movies and forms of virtual/visual entertainment, books and live plays were a large part of all cultures. We are humans, not robots, and as such I believe that it's important to be able to envision things that have not transpired or seemingly don't exist. We know very very little about our universe and without forward-thinking people imagining possibilities that had not yet happened civilization probably wouldn't have gotten this far. In a way, I think that fantasy precedes reality. My friend just told me the algorithms in computers like the ones used by Google being able to scan your emails, messages, and information accessed or posted online and they are able to construct a personality with Artificial Intelligence with your traits. He wrote a science fiction story with that same plot a number of years ago. Kinda spooky.
