Who's Got Social Anxiety?

David Cameron!

Look at him speaking!

That's me in interview - clutching at straws - off on tangents - anything to defend myself - trying to look relaxed! Always cutting people off - trying to be bold... a stiff stance, and a red face!

If he had social anxiety, he wouldn't even be able to carry out a 5-minute speech, believe me.

I disagree completely. I have social anxiety and I HAVE given speeches before. I've also acted and sung onstage. People have different manifestations of it, and different degrees of it. And I believe it can affect people in very different ways. Some people may have a hard time interacting in a group setting, for example, but when it comes to faking confidence for a speech, he or she has got it down pat.

Yeah...

A speech is one thing. I've only done a few of these, and learnt the big things; that you have to know the subject inside-out, and upside-down. Having the presentation ready is OK, but it's the questions afterwards that eat you up. Like being on Dragon's Den.

The next speech might be at my Dad's funeral.

My real experience is in being griddled at interview, and I've learnt from hundreds of these - still far from perfect, as every one is completely unique.

A country leader is just the face of a nation - we'll never know what they're like. Crumbling under pressure is not easy to avoid - sweating in a suit in summer ain't nice. It all takes practice. I hate losing my thread - it's embarrassing.

I'm from Spain too and I think you can give a speech if you want, but nothing obligatory.
