Well...

1) Unpredictable weird movies. Like "Rubber", "Funky Forest". They keep me interested and on my toes, because I don't know what happens next.

2) Dystopias or other movies depicting dark alternative timelines, possible futures or realities. Like "Blade Runner", "The Road", "Dark City" and so on.

3) Movies with absurd or black humor. "Man bites Dog", or movies created by Monty Python, or "Flickering Lights".

4) Interesting animated movies. Like "Ghost in the Shell" or "Coraline".

5) Trash. Like "Giant Octopus vs Megashark", or "Mosquitoman".

6) Good horror movies. "Good" meaning that they are not about violence, but about suspense. Like "Room 1408".

7) Western.

Most other movies I'm pretty "meh" about. Movies I despise are boring teenager comedies, that are predictable from the beginning of the end, have no sort of humor except fart jokes and whatnot. I also hate it when the USA takes famous popular incredible foreign movies, and remakes them as an american version with american actors. I hate that. I'd never watch one of those. I'd watch the original version any time, but never this butchered up mutilated US copy.

I like the radio in room 1408 that started playing the Carpenters song. That made me laugh.

Something challenging.

I don't really have a favorite genre-- as long as it's done well, I'll probably enjoy it. I enjoy it even more if it's actually presenting ideas.

Sci-fi/Psychology thriller movies are my personal favorites. By this I mean a mix of the two. Top ten movies (as of recently and in no particular order): Looper, Alien, The Machinist, Donnie Darko, Cloud Atlas, Silence of the Lambs, The Shining, Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992), V for Vendetta, I Am Legend.

My favorite are thriller/action movies with good fight scenes like the Bourne series and Matrix. Some Jackie Chan movies are good too. I like adventure movies too.
