I hate the way I look but when I put makeup on, it makes me feel so much better. It helps in social situations when I put a bit on, as I feel better about myself.

When Im having a very anxious day, I put makeup on to make myself look prettier and then I feel better. And my day goes from depressing to a good day. I know wearing makeup is like hiding behind a mask, but if I wear it when I go out, like being in crowds, it helps loads! Or having a shower and doing my hair.

I think when you look good, you feel better and happier.

Is it the same for you?

I'm a guy, but unlike the last poster, I do feel better if I took care about myself. I'm simply more confident if I think I look good (better).

Getting a good workout where I sweat my brains out with weight lifting and running.

Laughing also makes me feel better. I've been watching some hilarious videos on youtube lately. Also I recently caught Home Alone on television. Holiday Classic, ha.

Reading books with good messages helps as well. It forces my brain to turn off and read positive words rather than think negative ones.

yea, makeup is helpful.
however, sometimes when im looking and feeling pretty, i end up feeling more self-conscious because i start thinkin im attracting more attention.

One thing i've often noticed is that the busier my schedule is, the less anxious i am. whereas if i only have one thing on and im sitting and waiting around all day to get to it, then i have more time to think negatively about it and end up worrying a lot (and huge anxiety levels).

No, wearing make-up doesn't really make me feel any better.

Candy usually makes me feel better, though! If I have had a particularly crappy day at work, I will stop at the gas station on the way home and get myself a thing of candy. lol.

But yeah, I guess in regards to something that might boost my confidence for a period of time, it would be new clothes. When I get a new shirt, I love wearing it to work the next day, and it definitely makes me feel better and more confident for the day.

The thought that girls have to wear makeup to look good depresses me,

Women who wear much makeup look worse, not better. They look like some strange hybrid between painting and reality. And don't get me started on those scary, disgusting long colored fingernails women seem to think are attractive... or lipstick, which looks like some sort of open wound... or the hideous coloring women put around their eyes... or those strange re-sculpted eyebrows.

And above all, the way you look is a form of communication. I shouldn't jump to conclusions, but I read the message of makeup as saying "I'm shallow" (which is very unappealing to me). Not wearing any suggests a certain individuality, confidence and depth.

There are surely lots of people who find makeup attractive, or it'd stop selling so well. You can't assert that everyone's tastes are the same, though. There is no single "good" way to look that'll be approved by all.
