What kind of music do you listen to?

I like all kinds of music, but I listen mainly to classical and jazz. That article wasn't very accurate at all. Apparently people who listen to classical and jazz are supposed to have high self esteem, which I definitely don't have, and I'm not very creative either.

I listen to all sorts of music and they all clash:

Low self-esteem, creative, not hardworking, not outgoing, gentle, at ease
High self-esteem, creative, introvert and at ease
High self-esteem, creative, not hardworking, outgoing, gentle and at ease

I suppose it's true in the sense that my confidence and personality vary depending on the situation. The "at ease", "gentle", "creative" and "not hardworking" parts are definitely true though.

G-funk, old school, folk, blues, jazz and heavy metal. Dont mind a bit of punk either.

Yeah, actually been getting into a bit of the old classical myself, Qb. Love nothing more than listening to Beethovens 9th as an intro to The G In Deee.

I listen to Soft Rock, Dark Ambient, Natural Ambient, Industrial Ambient, Industrial Punk, Rap, Goregrind, Cyberpunk Rock, New Age, Electronica, Orchestral, J-pop, K-pop, Mando-pop, Tribal, Classical.

I mostly like rock/heavy metal... but only half of the characteristics from the article apply to me- not outgoing, gentle, at ease- the other characteristics are the complete opposite- because I do have somewhat high self-esteem, I am definitely not creative, and I am pretty hardworking.

This is one of the questions I'm always afraid of. It seems that every time you meet someone new one of the first questions is "What kind of music do you like?". And then my mind goes to being assessed and criticized and rejected and what if I give the wrong answer... Yeah, I know there's no such thing as wrong answer when it comes to personal taste, but still.

As far as the other thread goes - I listen to music every now and then, but if I lost my iPod or my computer crashed and I lost it all I wouldn't be the slightest bit upset.

I listen to everything from Marilyn Manson to Mussorgsky, so if that article is correct, I'm essentially schizophrenic. I hate jazz and country and western... oh, and contemporary Christian music (you know, the likes of Michael W. Smith and Amy Grant) makes me want to vomit blood.

I'll give anything a try, but I mostly listen to metal and classical. Manson and Mussorgsky? Lately I've been listening to Megadeth and Mendelssohn.

And I've never actually seen one vomit blood, so maybe I should find some good worship music for you, Perf....

I used to listen to deppressing bands like Nirvana, but I've now come to realise that this kind of music reinforces a negative outlook on life within myself. Now I try and outlaw that stuff... so I listen to ANY genre, aslong as it's got a positive message and I prefer upbeat stuff or relaxing songs. I've got the same attitude to films now too... I used to love horror films so much, but I now feel like thats fuelling some kind of opposite polarity within me that is exhillarating, yet ultimately self-defeating. So I opt for Romance, comedy and anything else which doesn't have death or violence as a central theme... I don't like to be reminded of that stuff. That's just me anyway

I do also enjoy some classical music, depends on what mood I'm in. I'm more into Metallica and Mozart at the moment. Let me know if you need any help finding some good Christian music for Perf, Tiercel- that's a spectacle I'd be interested in as well. ::p:

Hey, thats the link I posted :). I listen to a LOT of metal/hardcore/metalcore type stuff. Like August Burns Red, Parkway Drive, All that Remains, Beneath the Sky, MyChildren MyBride, etc (not that any of you have ever heard any of them). It applies to me almost perfectly.

I think it might only apply to people who listen to one main genre because if you listen to some of everything then it obviously wouldn't apply to you.

I listen to pretty much anything as long as I think it's good...My favorite is punk and ska though...

I used to be all like "oh, I only listen to unpopular bands...Because I don't let other people decide what's cool to nlisten to or not" But I realized by not listening to popular music I still was letting people decide what I listened to...so now I just listen to whatever I want whether they're popular or not

That article is surprisingly accurate for me...I like punk and ska, so reggae is closely related...High self-esteem, creative, not hardworking, outgoing, gentle and at ease

everything there describes me perfectly except "outgoing" I'm not at all lol

I like a lot of different types of metal, as well as some mainstream rock/metal. I also like some lighter stuff, such as Peter Murphy and a few other artists and bands.

Almost everything.. currently I'm listening to Arabic music.

I really like Amr Diab, but apart from that i'm clueless about arabic music. I study the language, so if you hear anything good please recommend :)

I listen to very little music as i've already made clear in my previous post, but i'm trying to get into classical as it's the only genre i could listen to for long periods of time (although for some reason i also love BFMV and Avenged Sevenfold... they always put me in a bad mood though so i mostly avoid them)

One day I just randomly bought a CD from a group called Niyaz.
It's mostly electronica mixed with traditional Sufi music.
When I first bought it I jammed out to it all the time but now I'm kinda tired ...
