What is your Favorite Board Game or Family Game?

My family has never been into board games, we tend to do thinks on our own, like when were all in the same room together 95% of the time each kid is on their own computer or videogame, and Dad is watching TV.

We got apples to apples a few years back, and usually had alot of fun in the rare occurrence that we would ever play it. We also did uno a couple times and had a blast.

Now these games are fun, but these are almost the only ones we own...

Looking to buy an awesome game we can all play, as a present on Christmas.

So the question is:

What is your favorite board/family game?

Why?

I hardly ever play board games, simply because I have nobody to play them with. Instead of going out and getting drunk, I reckon it would be nice to stay in with maybe one drink and some nibblies, put on some music in the background, and play a fun board game. Unfortunately, I have no friends that would be willing to play anything like that.

In any rate, you're right. I have not played Monopoly in years and I believe I may have forgotten the rules.

Scrabble is fantastic. I'm not very good at it but I love playing. If I ever meet you I'm keen to challenge you to a game. :)

I hate Lord Of The Rings but there was a board game that came with it which I absolutely LOVED. My ex-neighbour had it and we played it a few times and I enjoyed it a lot. Probably the best thing that franchise ever put out.

My family pretty much all have social anxiety to some extent, so if we end up playing anything it has to have basically nothing to do with any kind of performance. My family would rather stand out in the snow barefoot than play charades, for example. As it is, we tend to like playing "brainy" games, like Trivial Pursuit or Boggle or some other sort of trivia game. I wish we would play more games together, so maybe I will try getting something for us to do this year after we open presents.

I love Monopoly, even though I suck at it. Never have I won a game. I lose every time.

I love Apples to Apples too. When we would get together with my cousins during the holidays we'd play this game. It was the only thing that would keep us entertained and actually getting along and laughing. That game is hilarious, especially if you're playing with a bunch of people.

Scrabble is another one of my top favorites. One of the only board games I'm actually good at. Oh, and Trivial Pursuit.

Heck, I just love board games. And now I want to go play. Anyone want to join? :)

I would gladly play. I don't play enough anymore. I would love to organise a big board game night. Maybe 3 board games, some drinks, snacks, music...how awesome would that be! But, alas, I have no buddies that would want to do that.

Psyche, I'd love to play with you. You just have to promise not to brutally murder me like the last time I played with a few other users. ::p:

Over the years I've played lots of games with my family, usually on holidays and get togethers. Probably the most fun I've had was playing Balderdash, sort of over it now but every once and awhile when I'm feeling comfortable it's still a hoot ::p:

Of course scrabble too, upwords is a fun variant of it as well. Uno is also a favorite, Sorry, Monopoly too. Lots of games, games are fun.

My family has never been big on board games, so I really don't know how to play them, but always been curious about them (though it makes me feel silly to admit I have never played this game or that as most everyone is familiar with board games). My sister bought lotteria (like bingo) a few months back, and I like to play that. My boyfriend and I have been playing Monopoly, and I really like it...maybe 'cause I always win, haha. We are gonna buy more board games (Scrabble, Life) as we enjoy to stay in and play. If we had friends, I would host a game night 'cause that sounds like a lot of fun. Maybe in the future!
