Trouble Chatting Online

Has anyone experienced this problem? It's so weird because if I'm outside with a friend it's not that hard to start and have a conversation(just with friends only, if I'm with someone I'm not used with it's still hard to find any subject of conversation) , whereas if I chat online it's as if all goes blank in my mind and I don't know what to write anymore. We usually start a conversation , talk about small stuff and then I don't know how to continue and I leave the conversation unfinished. It' so annoying !!!!!

I have chat phobia too... I can chat allright but then worry too much about it, so I just don't chat haha..

don't worry, people on this site are understanding, mostly.. we all know what it's like to have sa.. also sometimes the chat gizmo doesn't work etc, or people get disconnected.. or just say you have to go eat something or go somewhere in RL.. people will understand..

It doesn't worry me that much, but I find chat to be a little bit awkward. Forums are better where you have more time to consider your post.

I have this problem too...It's harder for me to speak to people face to face though, but lately it is getting worse for me to chat online. My mind goes blank, but then it's blank most of the time in conversation :/

I can chat online like I used to be able to talk in person; In a comfortable environment with people I'm comfort with. I'm very (for the most part) comfortable talking in the chatbox on this site, but anywhere else I have great difficulty. 1 on 1 conversations I have as much if not more difficulty online chatting as I do in rl.

well it's not that I am worried of what people will think of me if I can't maintain a chat conversation. It's because that w/o talking to friends ur friendship will fade away....so I don't want that happening,but, unfortunately i think that that thing already happening....

i hear you man....
i feel that making conversation is my number 1 problem. talking on the phone is the worst situation for me: the awkward silence is killing me and i always conserned about what to say next- just keep the conversation going...
the problem with talking to new people is "breaking the ice" that's a huge problem for me, i just can't do it... i think that when i solve this problem i will be fine....
