Mine more came with moving around and being the new kid in school. It's hard enough to deal with the pressures of school without having to deal with not knowing anyone.

I don't know if any one thing has contributed to my problem more then any other, hard to say really but if I had to guess it would mental bullying.I had a lot of problem with that when I was younger but i would also say genetics has a small part to play in it, in the sense that it gave me more of a disposition to be affected by it.

I also have a predisposition for mental illness. Mental bullying i guess was the main cause. Also had an unstable home life and was surrounded by asshole relatives - who very cowardly and conveniently stopped being assholes when i became big enough and smart enough to stand up for myself.

i guess part is in my genes, i have always been a shy child. i had parents that constantly put me down and seemed to never notice my sp, and in school i've been through a lot of mental bullying. it's a mixture. i don't know which factor is the most important.

Sadly it seems like a lot of people had to put up with bullying, so did I. I dont think it caused it but I think it made it worse. I am wondering if people think that bullying caused the sp or they were bullied because of sp?. Obviously it will be different for different people, which came first in your case?.

when you're shy you're an easy target for bulies cause you won't defend and this can turn your shyness into sp.
first they bully you and you get sp
and then they do, cause you have sp :?

They main reason why I think I got SP is cus my mother put me down all the way through school. I never did anything that was good enough, I could always do better. But the thing that set it all off was my parents divorce, after that everything got awhole lot worse. She still puts me down, but at least now I'm old enough to see that what she is saying isn't always right.

Though I have went through everything on your list(except the parents putting me down--I do have a grandma who puts me down alot though and some other family members but that's not QUITE as bad since I dont actually have to live with them--I haven't been through much violent abuse either but some girls at school basically tried to kill me once) I don't think any of it caused my SP...because I've always been this way...for as long as I can remember, I've always been a quiet, nervous kid who didn't want to be around other people, except my parents. I actually think it was the opposite for me...instead of bullying & abuse causing my SP, I think my SP is the cause for me being bullied and put down, etc...

I think mine's genetic too...though I dont think anybody else in my family has sp? Not that I know of anyway, or if they do it isn't as bad as mine is...but my grandpa has always had alot of anxiety and been a nervous person(no wonder though--he's had to put up with my grandma every day for many many years) and alot of his family has had anxiety, nervous problems, and have eventually "gone crazy"(maybe some of the family members I don't know very well or that I never met had SP too?)...I think my aunt has some nerve problems too.
