i actually have a bit of insomnia every once in a while.. i went to 2 different doctors and one of them gave me ambien, which i suggest nobody ever use, and the other gave me lunesta and actually reccomended i see a shrink because the insomnia most likely stems from anxiety...and he was right...But anyway, my therapist reccomended i try trazodone for my insomnia. It is primarily an antidepressant but when given in very small doses it is used to help sleep. I am not on anti-depressants and have never been, but i did get the small dose of trazodone to help me sleep when i need it because it is supposedly non addictive and safer then regular sleeping pills. It does make me very drowsy and relaxes me to point where it makes going to sleep alot easier. I dont know if this answered your question at all but i have experience with the drug so i thought i'd share :)

nope, didnt put me on long term. Since its just for sleep problems, and my insomnia is very sporadic, he just told me to take it on nights when i knew i would have trouble sleeping. I've only taken maybe 2 pills since i got them. I doubt i will refill the prescription again. I am in the US.. i'm not sure if they are available in the UK? ok, well i hope this helped

i was on trazadone at the same time as paxil...i rather loved it. it knocked me out right away...and i was able to sleep a full night.

if you have any reason that you might need to wake up in less than 8 to 10 hours after taking it....then don't. because it's extremely hard to stay awake and focus after taking.
