I guess it's quite normal to be deathly afraid of something that kills people at random. Our lives are full of things like that, it's a wonder any of us get out of bed at all. Down here in Miami, we also have to deal with hurricanes, deadly lightning, alligators in fresh water, sharks in salt water, traffic from hell, etc.
Social anxiety disorder (SAD) makes us think / feel that people are deadly dangerous too. Some people are dangerous (criminals, drunks, etc.), but SAD makes us equate all people with risk. With Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) we can notice these thoughts / feelings and just let them be.
