Good job, Greybeard, I know how hard getting to the shops can be, scary as hell.

I had planned to go early in the evening, but circumstances intervened so I didn't actually leave until around eleven, but that worked out pretty well in the end, even though I didn't get back home until four in the morning. It was a cool, foggy night, with hardly any traffic, and the stores were nearly free of other customers, so I could shop in relative peace. It really is the best time to go shopping, in the middle of the night: no crowds, no lines at the checkout, and rockstar parking everywhere you go.

Anyway, I now have actual food in my kitchen—fresh produce and bread and meat and lots of other good stuff—and I can finally stop bitching about having to eat soup all the damn time. (I bought twenty more cans of soup, too , but it was on sale and I had coupons and it'll keep, so I feel okay about that.) In all, it was a successful evening, marred only by one annoying tailgater up on the parkway. I just wish I could figure out how to make it not so much of an ordeal every time I want to go out. It really shouldn't be so difficult.
Good to hear you made it out and back ok, Greybeard.

.....more soup though!

Oddly enough, the shops don't generally bother me much, with one or two exceptions (and no crowding, please). Once I'm out of my apartment, I'm usually good for the duration—I actually like being out in the world to an extent—but getting out is another story. The physical threshold is easy to cross, but the mental and emotional one is a regular Kilimanjaro.

It was on sale . . . plus coupons . . . plus a rebate. What could I do?

I really haven't been good at doing much these last few days.
Yesterday I wrote "Tuesday:" on a piece of paper. And I couldn't think of anything to write other than "die".

Today I'm going to continue painting this big painting I started more than a year ago. I hate the painting, but I'll try to finish it.

I'm glad to hear you went to the store, Graybeard.

I think that's really for you to decide. If you've been going and going and doing and doing and you need to take a break for a while and just lie in a hammock and watch the clouds transmogrify, I say why not? Time spent doing "nothing" can be time well spent indeed. If that's all you ever do, however, that may be a different story.

Today i started writing...

Ive always loved to read, but never really thought about writing. I do like writing, but i have never thought about doing it for pleasure.

But, today i wrote a poem of sorts. Not so much for pleasure, because i was feeling really down and needed someone to talk to... so i put those thoughts on paper.

I dont know how to feel about it, but now i can say that i wrote something.

Yep, loads of famous poets probably started out just needing to get their thoughts down on paper to "get it out of their system".
Do you think you could get something published? I have always wanted to become a published author, but I have lived such a sheltered life I still write like a teenager.

Tomorrow (it is now dark outside) I will attempt to go outside my house and trim the two trees that are now severely overgrown in my front yard.
I always look out my windows to check if none of my many neighbours (or neighbors if you are American :P) are outside too, so I can't be watched while cutting the branches.
There is hardly ever a time where none of them are outside, so I may have to do the tree trimming anyway and somehow cope with them watching me.

I have thought of getting quite drunk before I go outside to start trimming the branches - to help dull the fear - but then imagined cutting one or more of my fingers off with the saw and decided against it!

Acting as my alterego 'self-appointed Health and safety police to all' (I don't win any popularity contests) I have to advise against this.

My mother was a landscaper I used to go to work with her when she caught me skipping school. She did what any responsible parent would do she'd send me up the tree with a chainsaw. and it didn't scare me then...I found balancing on a branch while holding a chainsaw exhilarating back then. Ah the days before the pre-frontal cortex is properly developed...that wonderful time when action and consequence are completely separate.....that wonderful care free time before I became the self appointed health and safety police to all...

Today I will start my assignment and I will feel stupid for a while because I wont know whats going on but I will do it...start it

OK.
I'm going to set the bar high today. Today I plan to;

Paint the 2nd coat in the spare room.
Write up a new CV/Resume.
Clean up the tree branches in the backyard from the storm the other night.

Wonder if I'll get 1,2 or 3 of those things done.. or none at all xD

So I didn't continue painting the painting, but I did paint several places on walls where more paint was needed. Oh an I painted a wooden pallet with white paint. I use 3 pallets and a thick mattress as a couch... and oneof the pallets needed to be painted.

Aren't pallets are the best?... you can do anything with them

I have a pinboard with 100's of pallet ideas I have yet to do.

A couch sounds really cool Great job!

I want to make a fence for my future goats with pallets.
