Long distance relationships are notoriously difficult to maintain. Enjoy it while it lasts, but next time try to find someone closer to home.

I AM actually asking because they are hard to maintain.

True choosing someone closer sure makes it easier, but choosing anybody around because "you need" or something similar to that phrase, isn't a good idea.

I've been told that I have "quite a requirements" by friends.
And my other half fits them as well as having a lot in common.

One of you will have to have plans to move eventually. I guess the one with the least to lose financially.

To give a serious answer, you need plans for how to handle the distance and good communication. How much time do you need in-person to make it? How much time in video or voice calls? Can one of you realistically move in the future, and if so when and how can you start planning for that?
