shyness and social phobia

Hi Dinamix :) !
I'm not a professional, expert, or authority on the subject... but I believe the difference in shyness and actual phobia or disorder is the DEGREE of the shyness and the symptoms that may accompany it. For instance, if you are purchasing something and the cashier tries to strike up a conversation with you, if you feel a bit uncomfortable, but find the courage to reply, you may just be shy, but if you just smile or turn away ignoring the attempt and start feeling shakey, overheated, incredibly nervous and as if you might even faint, you are likely phobic, especially if you were relauctant of even purchasing the item, or even going to the store initally because of the possible social contact. :(
