The Savages - 7.5/10
I love little films like this. A real gem. No clever tricks, just a real and honest glimpse into the lives of a fractured family. The film is basically about death so it naturally has a pretty sombre feel throughout, but considering the gritty subject matter, I think they actually managed to inject a fair degree of hope into it. The thing I really loved about this film though were all the little details. There'd be subtle comments or character mannerisms that would speak volumes and would really bring the characters to life and make them seem genuine and real. Plus Philip Seymour Hoffman's inspired speech midway through which cuts right through the sugar coated bulls**t and gets to the brutal truth about death, was absolutely beautiful!

I was expecting a much more violent movie. Brad Pitt is terrible. Some good scenes though.

The Social Network - 9/10
wow! this movie made me feel thick! haha! The script was so smart and slick, there was so much to think about. It'll take a while to digest I suspect. But I loved the movie. It really captured the excitement of this whole cyber revolution in social networking that we're currently witnessing. It felt like a really important and urgent film. I was a bit dissapointed that they didn't really get into why facebook has had such a profound impact. I would've been interested to know psychologically the cultural and social reasons for its impact. [But maybe I'm just being greedy!] Instead the film is more about the betrayal and jealousy in the lives of the people involved in the invention of facebook. It's basically a courtroom drama, but somehow it manages to make ordinarily boring subjects, such as computer programming and intellectual property, absolutely riveting!!! Plus Jesse Eisenbergs performance was brilliant! I'm definitely gonna be watching this film again!

Today I've seen "The Tourist" at theaters and I give it a 8.5/10. Didn't have that much major action scenes but great story and movie altogether. I loved it!!!

Started off really slow and boring but by the second half it actually got really terrifying! I had to call my dog up to come watch it with me! haha! Some of those hypnosis scenes near the end were awesome! I don't believe there's much truth in the film. I think it's all fictional, even the stuff that's supposed to be "actual footage". But still, it was up there amongst the scariest films I've ever seen!

"Enter The Void" - 10/10
Wow! I just stumbled across this film yesterday and it absolutely blew me away! Really incredible film, like nothing I've ever seen before. Really trippy, messed up film, about sex, drugs and the afterlife. But it's the visual appearance of the whole film that just blew my mind, I still can't figure out how they did some of the scenes. Really masterful and inventive. It was so original and imaginative. This may very well be my film of the year!

Here's a bunch of other films I've watched recently;
Devil – 9/10 – I LOVE M.Night Shyamalan!!! He didn’t direct this one but he wrote and produced it so it was his voice we were really listening to, and I LOVE his voice! I think what he has to say in his films is so important in todays world, and this film was no different. I especially loved the line about how we shouldn’t be scared because if the devil is real then that means god is too!
Tron – 7/10 – not as good as I hoped it would be. Visually it’s stunning to watch in 3D, but it got a bit slow and boring in places, and at times felt a bit repetitive and unimaginative. But still, was a pretty good film.
Megamind – 8/10 – again, not as good as I had hoped [although I had to watch the 2D version of this one – the 3D version may have been more fun to watch]. It was still a very good typical dreamworks animation that I’m sure I’ll watch again, but I just felt it could’ve been so much better.
American gangsta – 7/10 – good, entertaining movie. My fav quote; “That's a clown suit. That's a costume….You're too loud, you're making too much noise. Listen to me, the loudest one in the room is the weakest one in the room”
Sunshine cleaning – 9/10 – This was a beautiful little film. Really heart-warming. And the performances from the two leading ladies were incredible. Emily Blunt is now on my radar as one of my favourite actress’s!
Doubt – 9/10 – awesome film! Way better than I was expecting! I was so gripped I didn’t want to miss one line of dialogue it was so engrossing. The acting again was exceptional. My fav quote; “You have the right to ask a girl to dance, and she has the right to turn you down. The trick is, don’t take it to heart”

I am a huge fan of the original. This movie was a let down in many ways for me. But the main reason for me to not care for this movie was the story. It didn't reflect the way the Internet is now. In the original all of the characters were programs. One character was a accounting program. Tron was a defensive program that sought out hostile programs and eliminated them. In the new movie its just a big candy rave. Instead of looking like bipedal microchips, "programs" are just wearing vinyl costumes with glow sticks on them. It shows the main character get dressed for gods sake. Boo!

Never Let Me Go - 7/10
I think im emotionally scarred after this film. Golly gosh
I thought I'd watch it because i wanted to watch something with Andrew Garfield and really didn't read anything about this film one bit. I ended up crying all the way through, what a depressing movie.
The child actors were brilliant tbh, and the resemblance to the older actors was so good.
Tommy was my favourite character, every time he was on screen he made me cry, Andrew's performance was amazing it just felt like i was watching someone completely different. I also loved Carey Mulligan.
Theres some flaws in the film that maybe they answer in the book but im happy with loose ends. Marks down for Keira Knightley (urgh), although one scene with her was highly disturbing.
Loved it, maybe i won't watch it again for a while though
Conviction - 5/10
Although i liked this film and the performances given, especially Hilary Swank, her accent in this i could listen to all day. I just found that it dragged a whole lot might be where its 7am but yeah.
Knowing that its a true story and what she does for her brother, made me tear up at the end
Stokely and Sandy Cohen as well!!! Thats all i think of them as
Also Sam Rockwell looked like Jesse James at one point was very distracting.
