Has anyone read The 48 Laws of Power
By Robert Greene?

I highly recommend it for all on this site
I started it and didnt finish it
And I think its time to get back to it
This book gives 48 specific instructions about how to obtain and preserve
Power. It demonstrates through history the outcomes of adherence to
and violations of the laws themselves.

I found this website last week...and im so grateful.
I have been going through a difficult time and its difficult
to go through it alone and not be understood by others.
I have so much identification with nearly every thread I read.
The advise, support , and comaraderie is uplifting
And I thank everyone for bravely sharing their experience,
Strength and hope

Heres the list - http://cgt411.tech.purdue.edu/covey/48_laws_of_power.htmhttp://cgt411.tech.purdue.edu/covey/48_laws_of_power.htm

I've read it - he's done a good job of ripping off The Art of War and a few very well known authors, some hundreds of years before him. The entire Chinese military has been based on these laws for hundreds of years. Its the same old laws repeated yet again put into pulp easy to understand form (hence why he made so much money from it!). Just letting people know, this isn't really his own work lol

All of the laws make perfect sense, but some of them also highlight the weak part of human nature that I really detest. Thanks to my personality disorder, my complete and utter contempt of, and refusal to abide by, some of those laws, makes life and getting along with others difficult lol (such as 5,6,7, 19, 26, 45)

But my favourite is -
"Law 15

Crush your Enemy Totally

All great leaders since Moses have known that a feared enemy must be crushed completely. (Sometimes they have learned this the hard way.) If one ember is left alight, no matter how dimly it smoulders, a fire will eventually break out. More is lost through stopping halfway than through total annihilation: The enemy will recover, and will seek revenge. Crush him, not only in body but in spirit."

When it really comes down to it, I completely and utterly agree with that one.

Care to elaborate on why you completely and utterly agree with that one? I'm just curious. I don't want to become one of your enemies, haha.

I agree as well. If you watch Breaking Bad, it's like when Mike is talking about half-measures, and how that resulted in the death of that abused wife.

If you've read or seen the movie of Ender's Game, it's like this scene here:

Colonel Graff: Tell me why you kept on kicking him. You had already won.

Ender Wiggin: Knocking him down won the first fight. I wanted to win all the next ones, too. So they'd leave me alone.

I think hes simply admiring Mike from breaking bad,as someone that
Used his higher intelligence instead of brute force and intimidation
To win. A geeky vigilanti so to speak.

Ive brought this book up in conversation before and have mostly got
Stared at strangely , so thanks for being you and for the comments....

I think we (socially phobic people) have a lot of work to do on ourselves.
And in some respects we ve got to lighten up and stop focusing on ourselves and
our problem and live in the solution.
We need to have and consistently enforse boundries, limits and preferences and honor other peoples as well.
Im tired of the pity party between my ears and of complaing
All the time
I think I have to grow up
And stop bitching about my idealogy being unmet
And get over myself
I have to accept what is
And stop mourning what I got
And let go of this dillussional idealism
I have to work around what is as best I can

Use of medication can only go so far
Take it and combine it with realistic expectation

Set boundries and limits , while honoring others and let go of the past
And stop projecting negative outcomes
Proper diet, sleep, exersize and grooming
Are all efforts one can make quite easily improving
Our chances to heal and grow

& always remember its progess not perfection
