Initiating a "Hi!"

Or a "Hello" or a "Good morning" or any other form of greeting.

I find I have terrible problems initiating these, although if someone else initiates then I tend to be OK at responding. I think it's because I worry about two things.

Firstly, that the other person won't hear me (because I do tend to mumble or talk quietly sometimes) so the greeting will just be left hanging there, with me wondering whether they actually didn't hear me, or if they just don't think I'm even worth a response.

My second worry is that they will respond, but they'll be thinking to themselves "Who the hell does he think he is, talking to me?". Yeah I know that doesn't sound very rational, but that's the way I think sometimes.

I'll greet people only if they make eye contact, giving me the "OK".

As for speaking clearly, it comes with practice and evaluation of previous attempts.

I know exactly how you feel!

Whenever I worked the courage up to even say "Hello", I get ignored so many times! But mainly because they dont hear me because of my tiny voice.. so make sure you say it loud and clear! :)
