I think the way it's being marketed to the public leaves it open to a lot of politicized criticism from the right, because it seems to me that a lot of people don't really understand what it is, or why they need to change.
In Canada everyone was actually kind of amazed that Americans were getting a national health care system and regarded it as a huge positive... but when I went to the website and looked at what it was, it was really kind of confusing.
I think that people would have been a lot more willing to accept it if they just suddenly declared that everyone was getting free, universal health care and meanwhile in other news income taxes are going up... that to me seems like the best solution to the problem and it would have probably resulted in a better overall system.
But you can probably trace the weirdness of the ACA back to Obama's need to please and the Republicans insisting that trickle down still works and Ronald Reagan was the greatest thing to ever happen to America.
this is exactly the situation. and it sounds cold but, Obama and his liberal base needs to be decisive and not leave himself and his policies open to dismantling. it's like his foreign policy posture- he's just a big softie. putin swept in and snuffed his so called "red line" Syria violation in one swift effortless meeting then went back to wrangling wild tigers shirtless in syberia like Obama was just a wimpy neighbor who needed help building a fence. Obama and his administration should have planned obamacare more carefully, and addressed the "you're gonna lose your doctor" issues from the git-go. it's natural for us americans to be grubby with what we got because we're proud mtherfkers. it's not right, it's not awesome, that's just the trend.
in other news, this cute new girl I work with asked me if I was single and I almost blushed in confusion and embarrassment. I told her no, obviously, and then I asked her if she had a boyfriend and she said yes, hesitated then said well kinda. and I don't know what that means... so ya, now I'm confused and pissed at the same time 😕 :kickingmyself: :kickingmyself:
well kinda?.....She's basically saying that it really isn't that serious. Is she the type to be unfaithful? At any rate, it doesn't really matter since you have a girlfriend.
ugh, I miss-typed...
no is supposed to equal yes^... I am single, shit I need to stop putting posts up so late at night my eyes are fried.
But you don't actually know whether or not you're going to need it. Some people are at a higher risk, but illnesses and emergencies can happen to anyone. The whole idea behind insurance is to pay a small price instead of risking paying a large price that you can't afford.
That is extremely insulting to all the health care workers in countries with public health care. Doctors and nurses aren't just a bunch of losers who flunked out of school and make next to nothing just because they don't work at for-profit clinics and hospitals. There are standards in place. I'd rather be treated by someone who cares about the work they do and isn't just in it for the money.
I don't mind an eventual national healthcare system like ppl on here are suggesting. I just don't think we're ready for obamacare logistically, the way it's written and being executed. why is everyone telling me it's illegal to not have health insurance? that puts me in the mindset that I have to suffer a fine for not doing something the law tells me to do, regardless of my assumed rights, which are now apparently in Obama's hands. and while in this mindset it's only logical for me to be apprehensive of future, more malicious rights-infringing so-called-laws to be executed as frugilely as any ahole in the office cares to until iv'e turned into a
complete mule who gives everything and receives nothing. that's my
mindset in all this. I'm
notsaying it's right, that's just how I think.
I know healthcare workers and doctors in other countries are as skilled or better than American doctors/surgeons. but... they're over
there, and I'm over here. I don't understand doctor culture completely, but I imagine competition among most doctors (especially in the usa) is measured not only in terms of how they perform literally, but by the car they drive, their wife's jewelry, who has the best golf score. when I'm laying prostrate in a bed and I need a complex *** surgery done, and I have the money, I want a
confident-*** doctor who went to yale and whatever-*** topnotch med schools for a decade and ahalf to perform on me because that makes me feel comfortable. even if a doctor somewhere else with a less extravagant lifestyle is just as good.
damnit, another typo... add "not" above
