Btw, does this website have articles/information section which I'm somehow missing out on, or is it forum only?
I'm trying to find a place with organized HH info section & a lively forum (all in one place, y'know), but had little success so far. For example, SweatHelp has a lot of articles but no community, HHNetwork has articles & community but is still fairly new; and this place has a lively & knowledgeable community, but I have to dig to find more facts.

I just went reading through a lot of old threads here to learn more about how HH medication works - it would be great it this place had such info organized in articles or something...

i am just like you bro. except i sweat EVERYWHERE and i literally just pour buckets of sweat if the sun touches my skin.

It has shaped my personality in a negative way just as you said. My life sucks because of it. Like it has really altered my life in a bad way.

I was just sitting at my room thinking about my palm sweat and how ridiculous it is, do you guys think about this? like I am in a air conditioned room, nice air flow, all good but yet my hands can physically manage to non stop sweat and drip like its raining just lol what can I say. Its so ridiculous I sometimes dont believe that this is actually possible it literally makes no sense at all its borderline stupid.

I'm coping with it in big parts thanks to the internet, I guess. Online, no one can see me sweating.
I still have friends in real world.. though I'm not sure if I should really call them friends or mere acquaintances. They never call me, I never call them.. we just talk when we meed accidentally.

I'm sorry to hear that... I have to admit that my palmar sweating isn't so harsh, but from what I heard, constantly wet palms are common in HH. I hope drysol will start working for you again. Hmm or you can always try other antiperspirants or something. :/ Good luck.

it is kinda working these days, I think the main reason to make drysol or other alumminum chloride antiperspirants work is to apply it when the affected skin is 100% dry, if its not 100% dry it looses a lot of effectiveness which is so hard for me :S

How do you guys even apply drysol anyways? I just leave my hands to the air with no cover after applying, if I cover it up its too hot and does not work and I start to sweat.

Yes, the skin needs to be completely dry. I shower, put some light clothes on so I'm cold rather than hot, and wash my hands again in cool water - not freezing cold, but pleasantly cool. Then I carefully wipe and dry them and apply the antiperspirant and sit down and relax until it dries.

I think it's important to stay relaxed, because when I get excited, I sweat. So, just put the antiperspirant on and sit in a quiet room and be all zen...

(This is not about Drysol specifically, but I think the rule is pretty much the same with all antiperspirants.)

and after that you just go to sleep and leave your hands resting on the sides or do you cover them

I'm hopeless when it comes to sleep - I always sleep on my chest and often toss around... I never cover my hands specifically, but in the end they usually end up somewhere around the pillow. Some nights it's better, and on some it's worse.
To illustrate:

I try to sleep like a "yearner" but in the end I always end up sleeping like a "freefaller". :/

Ok so I used to constantly think about my sweaty hands and it was crippling. I tried all sorts of treatments and drugs and get referred here and there to try and get it under control. I can say now that the way I deal with it is...to just accept it and forget about the whole damn condition. Sounds hard..but really, if you think about it it isn't the worst thing in the world to have..yeas embarrassing but there are worse conditions out there to have. I really don't give a crap if I shake hands with someone and my hand is sweaty, or if I fill in a form and drip on the paper...I really don't!! and you know what? at work I hardly sweat anymore..because i'm not thinking about it all the time. Yes there are triggers that make me notice 'oh my hands are sweating' but I am just too busy with my life to let this stupid thing drag me down. People don't care if your hands sweat 'normal' people's hands sweat too..and it's a great feeling when i'm at work and I hand someone their change and my hands are dry and I feel theirs are clammy...purely because I like how I have somehow managed to accept and move on from worrying about it. It's not worth it. I have glycopyrrolum if needed as backup for events or whatever..but really I havent taken it in months. When I was at my worst worrying about HH to hear someone saying this would have wound me up...how can you 'forget' you have it?? well you can..I think about it maybe once a week if not once a month. Life is too short. I'd rather have sweaty hands than a serious condition anyday.

Hey. I am the same age as you and the only person I have ever told is my mum. And doctors, obviously. But I am more comfortable talking about it now, if it needs to be talked about.

There really is no other shame like it though. Only other HH sufferers could possibly know the feeling

that is so true. What annoys me so much is when I see these rubbish websites selling ebooks claiming to cure HH by using specific methods. One ebook I bought said all I needed to cure my HH was a sponge scrub!!!!

Luckily, I only suffer from the armpits, so it is under control as long as I keep using antiperspirants, but for so long before I knew about my condition I was so embarrassed. And it's true, when you consciously think about not sweating, you actually sweat more due to anxiety.

Just wish there was a real actual cure rather than a temporary solution

So recently ive been down a bit because of my HH and was wondering how you guys deal with HH.

My regimen, in a nutshell:

Palmar HH: Drionic, a few hours every few weeks. This usually reduces sweating to near zero. I've been using it since 1999, and the results have been nothing short of life-changing. I could maintain this sweat-free state nonstop, I suppose, but I'm lazy and a procrastinator, so I usually drag my feet until the sweat starts to return before I resume maintenance treatments.

Plantar HH: Reduced to acceptable levels once my hands are dry (which proves, at least to me, that there's a powerful psychological component to HH). I've never used Drionic on my feet, and I suppose I could, but it's really not enough of an issue for me to take the time.

Axillary (that's underarms) HH: I use this stuff called Driclor. It's a roll-on antiperspirant with 20% aluminum chloride as the active ingredient, which I believe makes it the same as Drysol. It's made in Ireland, of all places, and is available on Amazon without a prescription for like 12 bucks, plus shipping. I use it about once a month, though I still use a regular deodorant every morning just to keep things fresh. For all practical purposes, I haven't sweated from under my arms for over 2 years now. I can wear any material of any color, and I'm good to go, without so much as a spot.

Personally ive been using drysol for my palms for 6 years now, it is not 100% effective and sometimes it does not even work, 1 year ago I saw a link in this forum showing how to create your own ionto machine so I tried it and it did not work. i've been in this forum in a while now and a lot of people have had success with ionto machines which could be huge for me if it works on my palms. my question is:

- You think drionic is a good ionto machine? it is expensive?
- I tried homemade ionto for 2 weeks with no success, you think if I buy a pro ionto machine it will be different?

yeah, I have to use it every few weeks. I've seen the Mira dry solution before but what concerns me is the compensatory sweating. Sure, it could stop me from sweating from the armpits for good, but we have to sweat and I really don't want to have issues elsewhere. For me, now, personally, the antiperspirant is working just fine.

The success of ionto, like many other medical treatments, is completely subjective. In other words, what works perfectly for one person may provide zero benefit to another. Drionic's website touts a very high success rate for people using their machine; of course, that has to be taken with a grain of salt.

My advice is to allow for the possibility that you built and/or used your homemade ionto machine incorrectly. Your use of the colloquialism "mate" leads me to believe you may be a limey. :bigsmile: If that's the case, you should, under your NHS, be able to either obtain a high-quality ionto machine for home use, or receive ionto treatments in a clinical setting. I would definitely advise you to go one of these routes. My guess is that there's a good chance that if it's done properly, you'll see real results from ionto. The statistics are definitely on your side.
