GETTING HELP WHEN PARENTS ARE NOT SUPPORTIVE
My take on this is
1) your parents are not professionals. so they may not think this is as serious as you do.
2) you need to be open and honest with your parents about this issue. You might try saying, "is this a good time to talk? I need your help. I spend xxx hours a week, every week, avoiding people.
As the years go by this behaviour is increasing, not decreasing.
Is it possible the family budget could afford at this time some counselling for myself ?"
Alternatively, you might go to your college and ask for the nurse or doctor for assistance. As they are professionals they have an obligation to keep what you share confidential.
Does this make sense ?
