Someone I know took it, she gained A LOT of weight... Google Zyprexa and read about it, get informed.. She also complained a lot about apathy and feeling 'empty' (like a 'black hole') and such.. (don't know if it was because of the med or what..)

As far as I remember, Wikipedia said there was a lawsuit because some people sued the company that made Zyprexa because they got diabetes.
Olanzapine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Yup... By all means, reserach more and don't just take my word for it..

But if you really need it, hmm? Depends if you really need it, how bad your situation is? And what you were diagnosed with? Have you been psychotic/had hallucinations/schizophrenia or such? Or is it 'just' bipolar or such? (And how bad is it?) Check the side-effects... (The person I know was diagnosed with schizophrenia first, and then many years later was told to be 'bipolar' so hm? She said she never had hallucinations, don't know...?)

I'm allergic/sensitive to chemicals so I'm mostly anti-med, unless it's absolutely necessary.. I'd prefer all natural treatments first.. And are you getting therapy/counselling too or just the meds? Too many times doctors just prescribe meds, for depression CBT can work equally or better than meds..
Have you also tried nutrition and lifestyle changes?

If you do take Z. and find any iffy side effects do go to your doctor and ask for a change of meds!

i do take therapy. i have auditory hullucinations. i was at the doctor who prescribed the medicine to me and she mentioned diabetes at least twice while i was there so thanks for the heads up. i figured it might cause diabetes because otherwise why would she mention it. my father has diabetes so i dont think im a mess with it. i do have auditory hallucinations i dont think im bipolar though but i have obsessive thoughts...which can affect my mood.
along with my auditory hallucinations 2 ppl in my house have the tendency to talk aloud (usually im the subject) unless these are also hallucinations which i would doubt. but i dont know. i hate obsessing and i hate auditory hallucinations but what am i to do........i dont want to change my mental just because of meds such as zyprexa. despite the fact my counselor strongly encourages me to take it.

Hmm did she tell you Zyprexa could cause diabetes too? Or did she just ask if anyone in your family has it?

Have you been seeing someone who is an OCD specialist too? There are some online, they say it's better to go to an OCD specialist..

You could ask the people if they said something? My mom sometimes talks aloud.. and when I say, 'Are you talking to me mom?' 'What did you say?' she just says she's talking to herself, to remember stuff to do or such..

Wikipedia says Z. can also cause auditory hallucinations, so hmm? (You might also check the official Z. site and the pills side-effect info if it says so too..? Though sometimes things like that can be a bit hidden and not always seen at the first glance)

There are also clubs/organisations for people who hear voices, have you checked any of those out yet? For some people, it may be useful to go to a support group like that, and maybe exchange info about meds or helpful therapists or lifestyle too?

You could also ask your therapist if there are any other meds or approaches that might work too? Or check for another therapist that might work with you differently?

she wasnt that professional she actually just mentioned diabetes and used it in examples for points she wanted to prove. and i took that and ran with it, because like i said why would she mentions it if it had nothing to do with me. also before i saw the doctor i was on the scale and looked up and what do u know i saw a chart talking about diabetes. so i think alot of these medications cause you to develop other issues. yeh i saw that about hallucinations, weird to take a medication that causes what your taking it for.........but i dont know. at the end of the day, i dont know
