Do you just not "get" how others your age socialize?

Agreed, 100%.

People from different generations don't expect me to meet the standard they hold for themselves. They expect me to be different and welcome it. People in my age group feel...threatened by my differences.

Having said that, I feel like I was born in the right era. It's so exciting that computers are commonplace now. I love technology and I like thinking about how our technological advances are going to affect the world.

hahah You're right,
computers, video games,
that's what I'd hate not having in a previous generation,
but aside from that I'd be alright : D

The clothes I choose, the way I talk, music, movies they're all different,
thats why I feel I can never relate to anyone in those areas,
but somehow, sometimes I either like or dislike that about me : S

I'm 22 and I get along somewhat decently with people who are like 40 or older and people who are 6. My cousin is the only 6 year old I know though so maybe it's just cause he's family and whatnot. People my age tend to either scare me, bore me, or annoy me. Or I feel they are in serious need of getting run over by a car. In any case I try to avoid them at almost all costs.

I have found it much easier to "socialize" with peers than it is to make friends with them. I have a core group of friends that I have known for most of my life. My best friend and a couple other close friends I met in kindergarten(30 years ago), a couple of their brothers are younger and friends of mine, and then I think I have one good friend from high school and one or two from college.

As far as socializing, my best luck has always been when I try to relate to them. For a guy talking to a guy here in the US, it can be as simple as talking about sports, local news, women, or something similar. I find the more someone has been drinking alcohol, the more they're willing/wanting to open up about anything and everything. I even recall having a debate over who was the better singer in Van Halen: David Lee Roth or Sammy Hagar? And I wasn't even a big fan of the band back then.

As far as socializing with women from a guy's perspective, sometimes the same topics will work. Or possibly talking about reality television or celebrities?
