(CNN) -- Have you ever felt cut off from other people, even if there are plenty around you? Maybe you felt all alone in the world, but you were making other people feel lonely without even realizing it.

New research suggests loneliness can actually travel from person to person, spreading up to three degrees of separation. That means if your neighbor's cousin's friend is lonely, you may have a good chance of being lonely too.

Maybe we should all stop coming here.

I think I have said this in another thread, but I will repeat: Saying that loneliness is contagious would be like saying that SA is contagious.

It makes sense.

If you socialize with fake people and you're never genuine you never form real bonds with people and hence, you're lonely.

People that don't form genuine relationships tend to do this with the same kinds of people.

Not loneliness in the usual sense.

Talkative social people can have friends but sometimes they aren't real friends.
