talking to yourself

Does anyone talk to themself a lot?

I do it all the time, unconscious sometimes, other times I guess i'm just mouthing my thoughts  I guess thats a product of not talking to other people very often or something. I've done it as long as I can remember. It can also be relaxing, a good way to calm myself down or try get things straight. Guess it's better than creating an imaginary friend like "Wilson" from the movie CastAway. Tom hanks sure did love that volleyball.....

ANYWAY, sometimes people ask me what I talking about or what I was saying and I didn't even realize I was doing it. It can be really embarrassing.

Later
PEACE :)

yea I talk to myself. often wondered how common it is and how it works for other people. For me it's like I'm talking as though I'm explaining something to somebody, but really I think i just do it to sort my head out. I'm usually aware I'm doing it, and I know there's no-one else in the room so its not like schizophrenia. I quite enjoy it really. I'm not hurting anyone, so I don't think its a problem.

I cried when Wilson went overboard

I talk to myself if I'm doing something that takes a lot of concentration...like giving myself instructions...never in a conversational way though...I don't think I'd want to have a conversation with me

Well thank f*#k the times where you were thought to be mad if you talked to yourself are well and truely over - if only in the psychological field anyway - well that's good enough, at least now people are not being institutionalised for it. A philosopher named Took told me once that talking to yourself was a sign of genius.
Now i feel like i am tooting or 'took-ing' my own horn when i say that i talk to myself - well i aint a moron so what the hey. Yeah i talk things out and talk through my rational thoughts when my irrational ones look to be getting the best of me. When i am alone i speak things out loud that i am doing. I sing to myself and quote poetry - just things to keep me in a bit of a good mood - or out of the depths of a shit one. I also talk to my cat a lot.

Talking to yourself is fun, I do it constantly :) . It annoys my parents though, they think I am insane. I am actually glad that a lot of other people do it too, it doesn't make me feel so bad. I used to work with a guy who talked to himself to, he would be over one side of the store taliking to himself and i would be over the other side (it was a huge store) talking to myself, it was hilarious!. Then we would both realise we were talking to ourselves so we would walk to the middle and start talking to each other.

I rehearse conversations out aloud. I was caught in the act once by my boyfriend and almost died of shame. I wouldn't dare even think about it now; the thought of someone listening in on me talking to myself. MUMMY!!! 8O
