splendid and sexy actors in action movies

Hey ppl, I just saw the trailer of "4,3,2,1", a film I that by reading the plot all in all seemed worth to be watched , so I watched this trailer and a question sprang out of my head while seeing those pictures: why are the five protagonists all young, cool-looking and sexy? Was that necessary to the plot? No it wasn't (fortunately), because it's not the story of five fashion models, yet it is a bloody action movie - moreover purporting to be the story of some ordinary people - so why did Noel Clarke choose those four girls and also that other guy all extremely blooming and good-looking? I mean they are almost fastidiously attractive, all implicitly sensual you know, very thin, all D&G-and-Prada-adverts-like beauty, well I say: what's the point? Should I physically desire an image, or be given a further model of standardised screen beauty, even while I'm enjoying a thriller movie? I found it irritating. :p

I watched an interview with Noel Clarke and he said the reason the girls are the main characters is because someone told him once he couldn't write for female characters so he tried to prove them wrong.

The film itself looks way too chavvy for my taste, like the films he did previously

Definitely chavvy, yes. And what you said about the female characters thing renders the film also more pretentious and arrogant, no I'm not actually going to see it.

Kidulthood and adulthood are still quite good films, they manage to tell a decent story without getting lost in glorifying it all..The way they speak does grate on you!But still worth a watch imo.

As for the original question well I guess sex sells.

Cor calling a film too chavvy is so so so narrow minded.
Noel Clarke in my eyes has a great talent for writing/acting/directing.

I loved Kidulthood/Adulthood, as they were something different, that we really never seen before apart from like Bullet Boy etc.
Tbh i dont see whats wrong with having 4 girls as the main characters...

Well I suppose I am quite a narrow minded person hehe so that is a fair comment. I have watched both of the films but I was just not a fan it seems

I was referring to the trailer, as a general impression. Never watched a film of Noel Clarke, so in the case I'm not narrow-minded but ignorant.

Anyway, I can't stop finding boorish to cast 4 girls as these, for the 4 female characters. Definitely sex selling-oriented, so I suppose the man is more intrested in easy fund raising, rather than giving a pearl to the history of cinema. I wouldn't say he can do both, but it is stupid and odd to see in the same story all extremely beautiful and shapy people which are supposed to be ordinary people, at my eyes at least.
