shyness is nice!

did you know that it has actually been proven that shy people are the best listeners? I came across an article the other day as part of my research for the shyness project I'm doing in college and there was a study done where shy and non shy people were told to listen to someone else tell a story about when they felt ashamed. When the listeners were told their listening skills were not being assessed the story tellers rated the shy listeners far higher than the non shy listeners, but when the listeners were told they were being assessed then the non shy listeners did better, but still not as well as the non- assessed shy listeners. Shyness in itself can actually be a positive thing, it only becomes a problem when it stops us 'from doing all the things in life we want to!'

People with SP are the nicest people u will ever meet.(if you can get them talking, which is the problem cause i have never had a conversation) These are observations of myself

dont count questions from a phycologist as a conversation :(

No.. I'm a living proof. I have Social Anxiety and I'm not a good listener. That is if you want to call people with Social Anxiety "shy".

id say im a good listener...thats one of my best qualities i guess. the only time i dont listen is when one of my "friends" *cough* craps on about hating life when she is smart, pretty, outgoing and ive never seen her really depressed. sure she has her bad days just like everybody else. but in my opinion she doesnt have any reason to hate life. i dont know...maybe im just really jealous.
but i try to help people who say they have problems and give them a chance to let out their feelings. then they think i wasnt listening because i dont really say the right thing because i get all confussed and scared because they expect me to say something to help them... 8O

Is he? SP, that is, I know he's still alive.

I always wondered about many of his lyrics from the Smiths days, where he seemed to have an extremely good insight into life through my eyes (or an SP's eyes), yet I read an interview where he denied the songs were about his own personal experiences, rather were actually about other people, people he saw walking down the street and guessed how he thought they felt. I wondered how could he describe these feelings so well unless he had actually experienced the same thoughts and feelings himself.
