Today I went to the mall to get a suit. I went in line and the cashier was like "helloo how are you?" It went as usual. After a bit he's like "you have a coupon?" I open my phone and say "one sec I think I closed it." After that he's like "oh because you have that brand phone hahaha" I just say "yeah well I like it better than your brand phone." He laughs and then goes "whateverrr haha you and me aren't gonna work out haha." I just feel super annoyed. Okay I'll just type the rest out.
Him: "oh you got a suit. where you at now in school, work?"
Me: "Both. I'm about to graduate and look for a job.
Him: "good ole 9-5 right haha"
Me:"Yes I like it better than retail..(was about to talk about the crappy hours)
Him: "ooohhh HARSSSHH."
Me: "Sorry didn't mean to upset you."
Him: "harshhhh"
Me: -.-
Him: "Don't worry I have a side job too and going to quit here eventually. Seriously good luck though!"
Me: "okay bye..."
Ughh I guess he took it as me saying retail is worthless (it's hard work dealing with customers) but I wasn't saying that. Just the hours suck and he made fun of my phone anyway. Idk just needed to tell someone lol... not sure if he was teasing or actually hurt by what I said? Online shopping wins...

You are giving too much importance and taking it too personally.
What it really was - just a chit chat between two random people in a mall, nothing more than that.
He is going to forget about this conversation 10 minutes after you have left, so should you.
Don't things personally and try not to analyze them too much.
You had a convo, short exchange of words, that's it.
Good job btw, talking to random people improves your social calibration by a lot.
