Resting Bitchy Face?

Ok I somehow stumbled across a thing known as "Resting Bitchy Face".
Lol self-explanatory, it's where your normal face can be mistaken as aggressive/puts people off.
I think I may have it and it sucks... adds to anxiety, always trying to over act. It's hard enough being around people all day as an introvert, let alone having to try and be extra happy and then getting anxiety if you aren't getting the reactions you want.

Lol. Life is draining, being an introvert in a World of extroverts. I can't change, so how to adapt?

My resting face isn't good either. When I have pictures taken, I'm also told that I should try to smile, although I really am trying. I guess I just can't smile when I have to.

I don't have too pleasant of a face either. When I am at work or meetings, my boss always tells me I look angry at something or clueless, and usually those are my last 2 thoughts. It must have an impact on what other's perceive of me. Once in a while when I do have 1-on-1's with my boss he tells me I need to speak openly, communicate, and share my opinions.

I am struggling with this too and I do feel like this world is dominated by extroverts...even many movies and stories portray these characters. I feel stuck and am not sure where to turn.

Face

^Me too Kiwong.

Not so much bitchy I think, just scared and shocked, or like a deer in the headlights as I've been told. I wonder if having a relaxed face is best, which is pretty hard to do when you're constantly anxious.

I usually just smile at those I pass and say a little hello if they're friendly to me. People have told me I seem pissed off or depressed all the time based on my facial expression, so I often do that to show people I am indeed friendly, now I don't do it constantly that would be draining but I do smile and say hi to those who are either really friendly to me or smile at me first. Otherwise I don't bother. It's also really about the tone of your voice too. Sometimes people who think I'm being pissy hear how soft spoken and politely I speak and they automatically change the way they speak to me or how they act towards me.

Sadly sometimes for people who have this type of anxiety it IS an acting game. But for me I kind of always enjoyed that, not the social part of it but the fact that I can pull off seeming like I'm normal and social.

My face also looks aggressive when it's resting. I also have sanpakku eyes which doesn't help either. People think I'm staring down at them so they stare back at me. I can make enemies just by looking at people, even not intentionally being hostile. This is why I avoid looking at people for more than 2-3 seconds. I've tried smiling lately even though I look uglier when doing so.

I have it. I intentionally smile. The faking it until you make it. I'm usually a very cheery person. In high school, a teacher pointed out that I always looked "intense".

I was told by a girl once that I had intense eyes. Like eyes that make people have a hard time looking at me. But now I'm taking medications that make me really tired, so now my eyes don't look so intense anymore. :)

It seems to me that you found something you can additionally be worried about. And not something you actually have. One indicator is: people with certain problems often first notice the problem, then look for more information, and find out the name and what it's about.

If you find that you might have a problem after you read about it, it might be very well possible that you just imagine having it.

I agree with the additional worry part.
I get self-conscious about appearing uptight in social settings so perhaps it's the identification of a name for the expression I'm feeling.

LOL I LOVE that I have a bitchy resting face:D It keep creeps away from me. When I look pleasant, people come right up and start talking to me.Mainly men. It's annoying.

It's wonderful to be able to shut yourself off from random idiots without even needing to speak:D

But if you insist on looking more pleasant...focus on how your facial muscles feel when you see something you like.An outfit in a store window,a pretty painting, etc. It's not a full smile though, more of a brightening of your eyes and slight upward tilt at the corners of your mouth. You can practice that and make that your resting face if you are disciplined enough. But I say, what's the point? Smile at the people you want to smile at and to hell with the opinions of the rest.

I'm pretty sure I have this too. I've always been self-conscious of it, especially since my family often teased me about it. Sometimes though people have come up and talked to me or were pleasant towards me before, so I wonder how bitchy I actually appear.

I think this is my problem. I thought about being a spiritual teacher but then who's gonna want to join my group? I would scare people off with my intense eyes! The only way for my eyes to be less intense is if I am dizzy, not conscious of my surroundings, but this means I bump into things. It's a tradeoff.

I don't have a problem with my resting face, though apparently my eyes go big when my OCD kicks in and it freaks people out. I'm not even sure how that happens, since I'm normally unable to open my eyelids more than half of the way. My boyfriend's family teases me about it all the time.

Aww! Welcome to the sleepy-eyed club.
