Reading in front of others

Does anyone else have a problem with this? It seems like I just have difficulty concentrating when there's someone else around. I can't tell if it's SAD or ADD, though, because I also have trouble reading or writing with the television or radio on.

I had this problem earlier on. Then I discovered that if I just really focused hard on the story I was reading in stead of dwelling about what others might think if my voice would break, I could read without problems.
It took me a little while and some practice, but I finally beat it. Now I don't have this problem anymore ;)

Good luck!!

Yea I remember being in school and always fearing when it became my time to read out loud. All I can say is try concentrating on the story and whats going on in the story, rather then the people.Read out loud in front of the mirror to use to the idea of reading out loud and that might help you concentrate more.

Hey carolina, just curious as to why you think it would be SAD? I think many ppl have trouble reading outloud and while something distracting is going on in the background.

What helps me is to read out loud when im alone, it keeps me focused and i see it as good practice should i have to read in public.

Whenever I am doing any kind of activity in front of other people, reading, writing, speaking, it is never the same as it is when I do it on my own. If somebody is watching me do something, it almost feels like I am doing the same activity while being held down by some weights. It never feels the same.

Hey again carolina, ignore my previous question, my head had been in my psychology textbooks all week and SAD = seasonal affective disorder. My brain is functioning slightly better today
