protein shakes/less anxiety side effect

I've been taking protein shakes here and there and something I've noticed with protein shakes is that I feel a bit more relaxed and a bit more confident and more conversational. I was actually approaching people at work and asking how they are doing and initiating conversations. (Normally something I usually don't do.) I'm not saying go buy protein shakes for anxiety. It was just a side effect that I personally experienced and how my own body reacted. I read that amino acids in general blocks stress hormones, so maybe that's what may have happened. I like helping people out and I just thought I'd pass it on to you guys.

Yeah, I've used them alongside multivitamins for quite a long time. I've also read about branch chain amino acids helping with little things like anxiety. Maybe as well, you're feeling better about yourself for taking good care of your body, by proper diet/supplementation + exercising (I'm assuming you're training while taking supplements). Little things can lift you up, they all add up too.

Sometimes I use it post workout or after exercise but sometimes when I need to, I take it before social events (even without working out) in which I just use a spoonful instead of a whole scoop. It won't hurt since it's just protein. I haven't really tested it over a period of time since I only take it here and there. I don't know if effectiveness in terms of lessening anxiety, would eventually wear out over time if I did take it like regularly. But ya it's a nice side effect that I personally had and that I would share.

taking pre workout suppelements can greatly reduce anxiety . Products like N.O explode can get you so hyped up you just dont care :)
Protein helping with anxiety? I dont see the correlation , although if your working out that can also help in reducing your anxiety greatly.

many protein powders contain amino-acids like L-tyrosine and L-tryptophan which have been shown to help strengthen neural pathways in the brain

i would correlate healthy thinking with less anxiety

I bought a tub of Strawberry flavored protein powder a few months ago. I mixed it with milk and it's one of the most disgusting things I've ever tasted. It took a while for the taste to disperse also.

Tomorrow I'm going to buy some fruit and add a scoop of the powder to my smoothie after I've been to the gym.

I'll post results if any.
