PROPRANOLOL to treat heart racing, stuttering, shaking

Am I the only one that doesent think this med is working?
I got it of my doctor about 2months ago now, he said i was only 2 be taking it before stressful events (e.g presentations etc..)..but ive been taking it 3 times a day instead.. which is d dosage suggested on d packet...(I felt the doctor didnt really understand how bad I felt .mainly because I get agitated talking to docotrs, teachers and so on..so all of this stopped me getting my point across-so i diagnosed myself! ha ha )..still no use anyway!..i feel no different...i have a presentation 2mo n im seriously thinking about bottling out now..only prob is it was suppose 2 b last week and i avoided that, so it got moved to this week instead!..so it is gonna look abit odd if i say im ill again :(..Its not so bad rite now but after Christmas we have assessed presentations which will go towards my final grade so i really need to get this sorted (well at least a little be sorted)..does anyone have any advice/suggestions?
Or any1 feel the same way about this med?
:)

Hello miss tinker bell,
I would like to inform you that the alternative treatments of panic attacks would be perfect for you. Usually i refer those people for alternative therapies who don't like the side effects of medication. But in your case, i'd say that you shouldn't go about taking higher dosages than suggested. it can have long term repercussions and the drugs really have no long term benefits(only useful for short term symptomatic therapy). you really should consider going in for Yoga. I will recommend the site that i used to learn yoga- the International Yogalyam. You can check them out if you want. but feel free to choose any other if you dont like them.
One another thing- Dont go about doing yoga exercises without any professional guidance, they then do more harm than good.

Hi i used propanaol .... bad spelling i think.

i had no problems with it as i was already taking a beta blocker for a exsiting heart condition..

However a word of warning they are just for the phyical symptoms heart racing adrenaline etc...

your mind i still having a panic attack your body may not respond with the pounding heart etc. they DO NOT STOP THE PANIC ATTACK. i had a fellow suffer take these and thought that if her heart stopped racing she would be cured. Also i found a big enough panic attack and the daily medication did nothing to stop the symptoms.

so a good medication hardly no side effects etc... but in the treatmeant of servere anxiety then it hardly touched the surface

Is there a alternative for Propranolol? This is because Propranolol is a non selective beta blocker. For several reasons i can't use this kind of beta blocker.

I have social phobia i also have high blood pressure and have been on beta blockers for my blood pressure for 6 months. Since taking the beta blockers my heart no longer races out of control when i get anxious and i no longer have a problem with getting the shakes or sweating palms. It doesnt take the thoughts away though. I still hate social situations

I Was Put On Propranalol For A Month,
It Does Help ALOT.
But As I'm Only 14 I Couldn't Take It For Too Long.
It's Good For Short Term Use.
But Is Also Highly Addictive AND Can Have Rather Bad Side Effects In Long Term Use.
I'm Now On Amitriptyline Instead, Which Is Known To Help Alot Of Things.
Anxiety, Depression And Insomnia Just To Name A Few :).
I Don't Know If This Information Has Already Been Posted, But I Just Thought I Should Give Some Warning.

Aside from a few negative posts, this sounds like a miracle drug. I know there's not such thing but I am very intrigued. Time to do some research.

I took this for 2 years for arrhythmia. It helped in that capacity and it allowed me more range when I was very anxious. I stopped taking it because I have angioedema and it blocked adrenaline which became a big big problem. Also you're not supposed to take it if you have ashtma (I got away with that though)

As for me, it made me feel breathless and faint. Which in turn made me feel more anxious.

I started taking it (I can't for the life of me pronounce it, so I call it propanalanalanathol) early last year. Personally, it has helped me a lot. It slows my racing heart and that helps calm me down. My doctor originally gave me a prescription for a week's worth of meds to get me through a job interview, but it worked so well that I take it daily, though in small doses.

And, no, there is no miracle drug. Some things will work for you, and others won't. But nothing is going to be a cure-all.

Shaking was a huge problem for me and propanolol helped with that.
Initially I was taking half a 40mg pill, but in some situations I would still shake. Taking the whole pill ended my shaking, but I would still talk too fast and stutter sometimes.
I recommend this medication; it certainly helped me way more than the anti-depressants.
I'm sorry if my sentences looked weird, but I haven't written in English for two and a half years.

Why can't you take it if you have Asthma?
