Prom or not?

Okay, the prom is coming up and I don't know what to do. It's a big social event which is just scary! Nearly all of me says "No, don't go!" but there is that tiny little spark which is saying "What the heck, Go for it!"

I could regret going but I could regret not going even so I really don't know what to do. What do you think?

I didnt.

whenever I went to parties I ended up sitting on the couch, staying with another person who didnt want to be there. I never had fun and it was all too awkward

if i went to prom it would just be ten times worse! parties were with friends, prom was with everyone! friends were hard enough to deal with socially.

sitting out made me look like a loser. so when prom came around i just said I didnt want to spend the money, I was saving up for my car. I also avoided all the drama that went along with making preprom and afterprom plans. I didnt have to go through the trouble of buying a dress and i didnt have to worry about finding a date or feeling left out when people had dates and I didnt.

but thats what I did. some people are alright once they get to parties. I never enjoy myself, so i didnt spend the money on it.

I didn't have that "voice" you have telling you to go, so i think if you have the least bit of progression, go for it. I didn't go to mine and i don't regret it. High school is high school and when its over its over. Its not something that will haunt you for the rest of your life.

I didn't go to mine and I don't regret it. At the time everyone makes out that it is such a big occasion, but in reality is it nothing but a bunch of teenagers getting dressed up and going out.

In the latter years of high school some students seem to think that the world revolves around them and that they are somehow important. Once you get out in the real world you realise that high school is such a small part of your life. You will have many more opportunities to attend formal events, if you want to.

But I agree that if you're having a thought that you may regret not going, and if you have a couple friends or even a date to go with, then go for it I guess!

I went to senior prom and I was a dorky, nervous, sweaty wreck and I still enjoyed it.

Get someone to go with and just have fun.

I went to prom and it was okay. I went mainly b/c I was afraid of being considered a loser for not going but I actually had a little fun I just felt it went by too quick ( I only had enough time to go around and take pics with the people i know and talk to them shortly)

I wasen't sure if I should go to mine...and I ended up going. It was super fun and I dont regret it. Ill never see those people again so I showed them what I got. I partied extra hard because Ill never see them again. They're not gonna go home think about me, so why not have a great time and just fuck around. I was there for 10 hours!!

If you think you might regret not going, you should definetly go...you can always leave if its boring. Then you'll spend your life wondering "what if"

I didn't go to my prom because I'm not the type of girl that likes to dress up, wear make up, and all that stuff. I don't regret it at all. My decision was easy because I knew it wasn't for me.

It sounds like you may regret it so I say that you should go and have fun. It won't hurt to go. Prom is one night but regret is forever.

Thanks for all your posts. The £10 deposit has to be into tomorrow so I think I'm going to pay the deposit and then that gives me a few weeks to think and talk to friends and teachers about it. I always have the option of dropping out of it if I want to.

I think if you have someone to go with, even just a friend, it's probably worth it to go. I didn't go to mine because I knew I would hate it, since I never once enjoyed a dance. I don't really regret it. If I had had a date at the time I would have gone, though.

I didn't go to my prom because I had no friends. I knew I would spend the entire night alone feeling really depressed, but if you have friends going to the prom, or just someone you could talk to or hang around with for one night, you might really enjoy it. There's a chance you'll regret not going. I'm pretty sure I would have hated my prom if I'd gone but I still sometimes wonder what if...?

Go for it! If you don't have a date, go with your group of friends! I went to my prom with 2 of my bestest girlfriends. We were fashionably late but unfortch, we didn't make quite the entrance. When we arrived, the food's almost gone and what's worse was that they didn't have enough tables! We had to grab seats and go off in a corner. Hahaha. It was totally embarrassing at first but what the hell? It was OUR prom and we were gonna have fun! Heck, we didn't even dress up for the occasion! Just a simple dress. And in a fricking funny twist of fate, guess who got prom queen? Wahahaha!

I actually regret never going to my Prom, but then I did quit school in the beginning of 11th grade, because I was already behind 2 years. If I had the chance again, I would go because it's just part of what being a teenager is all about. But if a kid is going to be that scared and/or anxious about it, just stay home and watch a good movie with a big bowl of popcorn. Don't worry, you won't be a loser!

you should definately go. i was so close to not going to my prom because of my SA talking me out of it, but my friends talked me into going and i dont regret it. it was actually a lot of fun. everyones drunk so you dont really have to worry about being nervous.

although i did drink by myself before going, then drank with friends before prom, then drank after dinner, then drank again after prom

just keep the alcohol flowing and youll be alright :D
