Pro-Banthine and Propranolol

Hi,

I've just been given Pro-Banthine and Propranolol by my doctor via the Dermatology dept at my local hospital.

I was told to take Propranolol first to see what effect it has. I took it for one day as it is supposedly quick working. I did feel it generally improve my mood and led to a decrease in sweating.

I have now switched to Pro-Banthine as this is more specifically for HH. I've only just started so not sure how effective.

I was wondering if anyone has tried either medication but more importantly if they have taken both together.

I feel I may get best benefit by combining both but I believe they are best not taken together. I will consult my doctor.

Does anyone have any personal experience. I would be grateful to hear.

I think i tried propranolol for a short amount of time like 5 years ago to try and help the sweating but I remember quitting after a short amount of time..though i forget why...it might have caused headaches or something...but i dont remember it helping with the sweating. though i may try again.

Be careful with propranolol because it is a beta blocker. You need to make sure your blood pressure does not drop too low (hypotension) and if you decide to quit, i believe it is dangerous to stop beta blockers cold turkey so you should wean yourself off.

Solo- Thanks for the reply. I tried Propranolol for two days and generally felt better, a little spaced out at times but better. I'll bare in mind what you say about stopping suddenly for the future.

I switched to Pro-Banthine as it is more for HH I think. Not sure yet how much of an impact it has had as still avoiding a lot of situations.

I think ideally if I could take the two I might get a greater degree of success but am aware that these type of drugs possibly shouldn't be taken together.

As far as the Pro-Banthine....aside from still avoiding situations....does it reduce your sweating?

And why stop propranolol if it stopped sweating?
