Potential Friend Advice

I'd like some advice on what I should do in this situation.

Yesterday, at the gym, I was talking to this guy. We've become good acquaintances so I asked if he'd like to workout together some day this week. We made it Wed (tomorrow).

Today I found out that there is going to be a networking meet up for models and photographers tomorrow at that time (I do some modeling on the side). It would be a really good opportunity to meet and get some more work, but I don't want to let this guy down. And I can't tell him I can't make it so I don't know how he'll feel. I've been in those situations and I'd feel bad if someone did it to me. I don't want to lose a potential friendship but I also don't want to miss this really good opportunity. I can't do both, which sucks.

Advice?

Hey Movielover21. Be honest with your acquaintance. Tell him what happened and that you're really sorry but you want re-schedule with him AT HIS CONVENIENCE. I'm sure he'll be cool with that.
In the modeling business, networking is really important! You want people to see you!

.....Also. Depending on when your networking session begins, you might want to ask him if he can do it earlier in the day....or, first thing on Thursday.
It sucks letting down a potential friend...but, if he really is going to turn out to be a friend, he won't mind.
