I've been looking at kayaks, they seem like a fun excuse to brave the outside world. It'd be great if Gus would come along. I can see us having a ball at the local lake.
Kayaking can be a lot of fun, I've been a few times :)

I hate clutter too. I regularly go and throw stuff out thinking I won't need that only to need it a week later 😆
On the topic of parents, the impact of their parenting style/skills on their children cannot be understated. But it's easy to lay blame I guess, god knows I've done it. But they're human too and when they look back probably think to themselves "I could have done better there.."
I know my parents were influenced by their parents, or rather lack thereof, and I understand that they could've done better. My mother never had a good role model of a mother. Their relationship was switched, where my mother played the parent and her mother was the child. For a long time my mom kept having to get her out of trouble. I remember at one point, when I was a kid, my grandmother lived with us for a good month or so because she got evicted from her apartment due to financial issues and straight up mishandling money on her part. She had no where to go, husband gone (passed a year or so prior), and my mother had to find her a new place and set her back on her feet again. Later that year she pretty much cut her ties and basically told her she was on her own. They barely talked after that, especially since we had moved out of state, and about 12 years later she passed. My mother, once again, handled all the money (not that there was much) on that end and setup the funeral. (Couldn't rely on her siblings because they were just as bad with money and the like. I don't even know how they still have a roof over their heads after this many years now, but they must be finally doing something right.) Now 20 years later, I'm finding myself in a somewhat similar role. My mother is starting to become a child to me. She's not taking care of herself, I keep having to remind her to set up appointments with her doctor or to discuss her issues with her doctor and not to me because I'm not a doctor (even though I have some health education), calls me up whenever she's having issues with my brother or my father and calls to complain, on the rare chance she'll actually try to get me involved into whatever argument happens to be occurring that day/week and I flat out refuse.

She also had a bit of a scary situation over the weekend and instead of contacting her doctor she called me to ask me what was wrong. I told her she needed to call her doctor right away and tell them what happened and how she was feeling. She finally called today, which was a relief. They think it's a medication issue -- she has epilepsy -- and are going to work on getting her a new medication. This is the 5th or 6th medication change she's had in the last 5 or so years though. Her body keeps eventually rejecting them and it's not entirely sure why. She's also getting referred to an immunotherapist to help as well, which is intriguing as I haven't heard of one helping in a situation like this and I'm curious what their thoughts will be and how they can help. I'm crossing my fingers she sticks with it, but I'm not holding my breath. It's extremely common for her to go to a few appointments and then stop going and thus not even solving the situation. I try to push her to go and she just flat out refuses. She's either "fine" or "I don't like that doctor" and doesn't bother finding a new one. Ugh, it aggravates me so much.

I've been using Google Opinion Rewards for a few years now and every year I always spent my earnings on music, downloaded my purchases, and then backed it up to my Google Drive. Obviously I can't do that anymore -- thanks Google. 👎 I've been looking at their movies to purchase, but not sure if I can download and save them to my PC and/or Google Drive. I tried looking it up, but I can't seem to find anything either. Does anyone use Google Play Movies? Can you download them to your PC after purchasing?

I stopped using google for purchases after I had about 1500 paid for songs and the bastards just closed down google music. Sure, there was a way to save those songs but it was quite convoluted. What movies I do purchase now I buy through Sony PlayStation store.

You've probably already seen this but just in case you haven't..

I had a feeling Google was going to be sketchy as hell when they shut down Google Music and letting people lose their purchases, which is why I immediately backed up what I could. Then again, I only had a handful of albums to backup, not 1500 songs. I can see how that would be a hassle to download everything and re-organize. I still don't understand why they shut down Google Music. Dumbest decision ever. Youtube Music is absolute garbage and makes literally zero sense to try to make it into a Spotify-like clone.

Thanks for the screenshot. I honestly didn't even see that when I was searching last night. 🤦‍♀️ My tired eyes probably looked right over it.

I think we should move America into Australia's timezone. That way I'd have more people to talk sh!t with during the day
As I was first starting to read this I thought you were going to say we should just move America into Australia and I immediately had a vision of being carried off by your giant monster spiders while simultaneously suffering from heat stroke. 😆 No thank you. 🙃

(But it's still on my bucket list to visit Australia someday.)

Same and i'm not even from America hahaha.

I swear everytime i see weird oversized bugs, they're 95% guaranteed "made in" Australia (the other 5% are fake 😜). They have mf Pokemon. I see Australians as hell keepers, preventing those things from reaching us mortals XD

True this. Actual footage of me on a hike the other day.

When I lived more further north, during summer the mice where so annoying... During winter they'd die off because of the cold. The east coast of Australia is getting raped by mice atm.. and we have those nut-jobs from PETA saying 'we need to catch and release them'..

I vote we catch them and release them into those peoples houses ;)

Where are you from FOAM? For some reason I always thought you were an Aussie

Received my first feedback (via email) on my second novel this morning and it was a doozy. Probably, the best comment I've ever gotten to date since publishing my first book in 2019. Thought I'd share the good words:

"I just finished (sorry guys, I never mention the name of my book titles here as it lists my real name and I prefer to remain somewhat anonymous)!! And all I can say is -- move over James Patterson and John Grisham – there’s a new, amazing fiction writer in our midst!! Seriously. I’m an avid reader of fiction, non-fiction, biographical and historical – and your novel is right up there with the best of them. And I gotta’ tell you, this one hit different. Hey Man, my hat’s off to you because … what a dynamic story. It kept me riveted from start to finish. You did the work for this one; you did your research, the character development was off the chain, and your ethos came shining through. In short – I loved, loved, loved it!! So now I have to go and read your other two. And, since I work in TV and media, I'd be remiss if I didn’t admit that the whole time I was reading it I was thinking – SCREENPLAY!! Seriously, I hope you’re thinking of sending this to some production company who could do it justice and get it on the big screen. Keep ‘em coming. Love to you and your family."

You're driving me nutz outsider!! I'm so keen to read it too! 👍

What a dilemma...lol. I really want to share it here. Now I wish I wrote under a pen name! Funny thing is he says he has to now read my other two but I only have one other book. But the title kind of sounds like it's two stories so I guess that threw him off.
I really admire your dedication in writing. It takes a certain mindset to be able to write a novel - let alone write one thats apparently great!
Over the years I've often thought/come up with ideas for books/novels but have never followed through. I accept that I don't fit into that category of 'Author'.
I tip my hat to you Sir.. you do what I cannot.
