I've never tried to eat gluten-free, but the problem will remain the same.

You're absolutely right that I shouldn't deny myself chocolate or a burger if I want them, but the trick is to moderate. I've had trouble with moderation my whole life. I can't stop at one cookie - I have to eat and eat until I've finished the bag.

I do love healthy food, yeah. :) I'm doing well recently with my eating, and I've lost a bit of weight, actually, but maintaining this is going to be very hard, especially when depression hits and I want to turn to chocolate for comfort. This is a test! My therapist and I are working together to beat it.

Well recently I cut back on fast food, sweets, sodas, juices a lot!

I found that if I put a bit of honey in my water it gets really tasty, also instead of eating junk food I have some tasty fruits, when you get the cravings I just eat, watermelon, pinneapple, kiwis, blueberries etc after a while it really works, but my fridge has to be loaded with fruits and nuts.
I had gone up a few kilos in the last days and went off track of losing weight but I am back at 82 kilos!

:) Good for you Olhos. That is a great idea, to put natural honey in water. Fruits are the best, I started replacing them with sugar and put them in my food.

Hrm, have you ever tried to eat glutten free? like I really enjoy glutten free brownies when I want chocolate. and it's really about balance, never deny yourself what you want just don't over eat. And of course burn more calories than you consume. Do you like healthy stuff -organic? or is that just not for you?

^ I think a really good trick too is to not only moderate what you really want (as far as sweets and stuff), but even go for a healthier option. Like shakethelight said, gluten-free brownies would be good for that chocolate craving.

I will tell you though, sometimes the switchover from a full gluten diet then going gluten free will taste a bit funny if you've never tried it before. It really all depends on your tastebuds. I remember trying gf stuff for the first time. Yeah, it didn't go over well, haha. But I really like it now, not that I have much of a choice anyway. It just takes getting used to. Don't be afraid of trying new things. :)

I'm not sure if they have these chocolate bars in Australia, but I always try and go to them for my chocolate fix. Dark chocolate all the way. In moderation of course, but a little bit is good for you! In order for me to eat dark chocolate, it has to be organic and not the commercial stuff (looking at you, Hershey!). Huge difference!

^ Nice job! :) Yeah eating fruit during those junk food cravings is so much more satisfying.

^ I've been doing the same this week too. Smoothies, yogurt, cereal, it's great. :D Glad to finally be cutting sugar again. It's sad I always bounce right back to sugary junk food though eventually. It's so addicting!

You're doing really well, mate! Keep it up. You're doing the right thing by snacking on fruits and nuts, as that satisfies the hunger a little more. I don't really like nuts but I do like fruit. Instead of keeping a pack of cookies in my room, I'm now keeping a bunch of bananas. I used to keep strawberries, too, but they spoil too quickly.

Thanks for the advice, Phoenixx. :) Organic and gluten-free stuff is really good for you, and it's good that you're going to those foods all the time rather than the fatty stuff. Dark chocolate is actually healthy for you, as long as you're not eating a whole block of it. Never seen those blocks in Australia but a similar product might exist.

Here's the thing, though: when I crave chocolate, eating gluten-free dark chocolate isn't really going to cut it, and the cravings are going to get worse. I haven't exactly cut sugar out of my diet, and I'm still eating things that are not very good for you, like bacon, (wholemeal) bread, pizza, and so on, and I still lost 1.9kg (4.2lb) in one week. So even the smaller changes are going me some good. And if I fancy a McDonald's cheeseburger...I'm going to have a McDonald's cheeseburger. ::p:

Apparently sugar is one of the most addictive substances in the world, so that is why you and I bounce back a lot. You're already going really well, and there's no need to cut out sugar, so keep it up!

That's a hell of a lot of Dr. Pepper! Again, it's the sugar and the caffeine in these things that probably make you go back to it. It's an addictive substance.

I'm extremely lucky that I actually dislike Coke, Pepsi, and other soft drinks. If I enjoyed them I would be a lot heavier and have a lot more trouble losing weight.

^ That's still pretty good. Bacon is addicting too, just saying. I can't resist it myself. :p

Also, ewwww McDonald's. ;) No me gusta. It's funny to think how much of that crap I ate when I was little, when I can't even stand looking at it now. My dad used to take my brother and I out to McDonald's quite often during the summer when we had nothing else better to do. What can I say? Those chicken nuggets were amazing at 5 years old. Plus you got the cutest little toys, most of them being either Disney or Ty. What more could a kid want? :D

I don't mind bacon. I wouldn't have it all the time but I do like it.

Haha, that's so good that you're like this now, and that you can't even stand to look at it. I'm definitely not like that yet. When you're a kid, though, McDonald's is a high-class restaurant!

I can't believe how stupid I am at times... For YEARS I've wanted to try Carob... Looked in health food shops but could never find any, then today, it struck me that I could buy it on the internet... Along with lovely nut butters that the supermarket will not stock... Mmmm... Cashew, almond and hazelnut butter.... So I'm now looking forward to making an order for delicious food... (When my husband decides enough time has passed since our last online order... We can't have the postman knocking too frequently...)

i had this one classmate/"friend" who was a virgin until 16, who everyone saw as the "virgin guy". he's not the most attractive guy, was very insecure about many things about himself. well, then from a day to another he met a very nice/good-looking girl. and since then they are together 3 years together and still seem very happy. i still don't understand things like this.

maybe, he makes people feel good? A person does to have to be attractive to have a mate. I just look at my ex, not attractive, but I liked him because of how he made me feel and that made that person wonderful.

no, he was very insecure. yes, he must make her feel very good. but my point is, that he was always very insecure/worrying. I'm happy for him, he is a nice guy.

There are people out there who would love you regardless of your flaws. Yeah, you'd think, but love can happen in strange places. I get what you're saying Gaucho.
