I have done some real damage to my hearing thanks to being stupid with my eardrums and music listening...also him firing off his .44 inside the cab of his truck...power tools etc...I need a hearing aide. Good thing they are pretty cool now and you can make it so you only here certain things in your environment and you can block out things you don't want to hear. They are tiny and no one knows you even are wearing it.
That sounds amazing, actually.
*fingers crossed*

Isolated, hated, afraid, alone. I am headed to a crisis I might not survive. But I will fight bravely until I can fight no more.

All I can do is help myself, even if I am beyond help. The bravery or foolishness comes in fighting a battle you can't possibly win.

You totally are capable. The trick is finding the woman that is your Ying.

That, is the key.

So many philosophers seem to believe that there is so much to learn from being in contact with other human beings. I wish I would know how to learn any wisdom from them. All I seem to learn from people is how they are annoyed with their neighbours, how they are rebuilding their entire kitchen, and what they did during the week-end (usually not much). I do have philosophical discussions sometimes, but it always end up being me opening someone's eyes on something and not the other way around, and it's not like I'm a particularly wise one or anything. Maybe one would need to leave everything behind and go on a long journey across the world looking for the very few who figured some things out, to be able to discover anything.

There really isn't much to discover other than the death of the ego is what gets you to a higher plane of consciousness but it will also totally put you at odds with this ego driven, "first world" society we live in.
People will not like or understand you if you kill your ego.
In some ways the people who you have been talking to have it right.
Ignorance is truly bliss.

I have a nice new desk but am afraid of using it because it'll get wear and tear from use. It's like I bought it just to not use it.

I can't relate to most people. Romantic love, for example, is something I've never felt so I don't really understand the troubles of family who're dealing with love stuff. Or like all love songs are totally meaningless to me because I've got no clue what you're supposed to feel when you listen.

The emotions that I "get" are ones like stress and frustration.

Snap! .....

Oh, wow, gotcha. That interpretation did not occur to me. I assumed you were just saying that you were taken aback, not that you related to what I said. Thanks for clearing this up for me

I had a hunch that was the case!
I guess it's a kind of slang, using the card game "Snap" as a kind of metaphor meaning that you experience the exact same thing. Perhaps this slang usage is not that well-known?

Thinking of my childhood .. tis been all downhill from there
...and i was an unhappy child, so that's sayin something
...but relative to now, i was way happier
Putting it another way, the last decade has been the worst time of my life (i'm 45)
...and right now in my life, the most bored i've ever been (but at least i'm not depressed, just often almost depressed)

Oh I certainly don't think they are wrong. It's just that I really, really like to be alone, but according to most people if you stay alone you are missing out on something. It would be easier to find an interest in the contact with other humans if I actually felt like there was something good and significant coming out of it.
