phone counseling anyone?

Have any of you received counseling over the phone? I know this great shrink but she lives at the other edge of town. A while back she had suggested phone counseling but I did not want to get into the awkward payment discussion.

Anywho if any of you are receiving phone counseling: would you recommend it? Also how do you people go about paying the psychologist/psychiatrist after each session? Is it typically more or less expensive than an actual face-to-face visit?

PHONE COUNSELLING

i know a woman here in Australia who calls three other women in the USA to discuss her issues.

i have had 2 men from the USA call me and talk...they don't do that anymore.

currently, one man in the UK calls me every 2nd week.

....

and you are worried about calling someone who lives in the same country, in the same town.

interesting comparison.

....

yes talking about what is going on helps.

Worried? No. Curious as to how the payment procedure works out? Yes.

I'm sure she was not offering her services to me free of charge.

It's great, however that you are willing to be there for others without expecting anything return. Are you a psychologist?

Bob is not a psychologist.

My wife sometimes asserts I often think and talk like one.

We all learn our family values from our parents. Like keeping secrets, pretending every thing is ok when its not, not talking about the elephant in the living room ( taboos ).

Some families are open and honest, caring and loving.

Others are too busy with just coping to be there for some who is struggling.

Part of the emotional/psychological journey we get to choose is this:

1) are our parents values one's we want to embrace?

or

2) are we seeking what is good for us as unique individuals?

Does that make any sense
