Online dating...why'd she give me her number?

I recently joined an online dating website and came across a girl that caught my eye, we seemed to have a lot of similar interests and i thought she was extremely attractive.

I messaged her and we exchanged a couple of messages, after a week of sporadically talking i asked her is she wanted to go for a drink, her reply was really enthusiastic but said she had just started a new job so she didn't want to mess me about, i replied saying just to let me know when she was free and we can arrange something. I wasn't expecting a reply back, but she replied and gave me her number saying for me to text her.

I left it a couple of days and then text her....although her replies were fine she didn't ask me any questions....it was a one sided conversation! I messaged her again a couple of days ago and exactly the same thing! I did say in our last text exchange should i just leave her be and get the hint, her reply basically said it wasn't that and that she's again just really busy. Her twitter account is linked on her online profile and to be fair everything she has been saying to me has been confirmed on her twitter, she does seem really busy.

Problem is, i understand that your busy, but surely your never that busy not to text someone.... after all she has the time to go on the dating site and update her twitter!

Do you think i'm being played for a mug? The whole thing is confusing, i didn't even ask for her number! She should have done what any normal person would have done, said no immediately to the drink or say i'll message you when she's free and then just never message!

You gotta be SUPER careful with this shit. Lots of people are posers and are not who they claim they are.

I would have blocked her and kept looking if she offered me her number.

That is a red flag right there...

NEVER give people online, that you don't know, ANY personal info; like social security numbers, driver license numbers, last names...

Be careful next time.:)

Hi Motherwolff, i agree got to be very careful on there! However in this case she is being genuine, i got my catfish investigator hat on and checked out her other social media profiles too and everything lines up. i don't doubt at all that she is who she says she is.

Yours is a common theme I notice. I think what is happening is that she is talking to multiple guys at the same time and she is trying to keep you on the hook until she figures out which one she likes best.
So you are in this sort if contest with other dudes but you don't know it.
She doesn't ask questions so she never seems like she is too invested in you.
You are right, nobody is so busy they can't send a quick text and most people have their phones glued to them.
I could be wrong about all this but I've seen many guys online talk about this same scenario.

tell her "nm, I forgot im going out for drinks with this other girl I know"...just see what she says.

...anything online like that sometimes tends to be a bit flaky anyway.
