Remember that advert when 'sweat' sprayed out of men's underarms whenever they lifted their arms up? If any of you saw it, particularly in front of others who either did or did not know you had HH (particularly axilla) were you suddenly uneasy? I know I was, especially when I saw it infront of my friends (who don't... I think... know I have HH) and they laughed at it and thought it was gross.

Yeah I saw that. It did make me feel uneasy like you said. And, with the way it was shown it would make people go "eew!" and think of it as disgusting, which would make you like wonder if that was what they think of you. I don't think it's a nice advert at all, pretty insensitive.

i do not have HH myself, though i have seen this advert. I understand how you could be offended, but its the whole idea of some guy walking around with ridiculous jets of ...sweat coming from his armpits. Its not even meant to be that funny, but its the whole 'stupidness' that gives it a comic side, not idea of 'HAHA, THAT GUY HAS PROBLEMS'. I'm sure if they knew anythin about your situation they would understand, how couldnt't they?

But i can see how they're obviously targeting sweat, and for someone who cant really help that...i would find that irritating.

I just hate how sweating is associated with being dirty or not taking showers, so of course they are like eww hes dirty he must not shower. When in reality we probably shower a lot more than people that don't sweat as much.

adverrrt

yeah i know the focus is that its exaggerated and comical and totally unrealistic -of how the water shoots out from underneath the guys arms. and that a spray of lynx deodorant will get rid of it completely. but to me, a HH sufferer, it is offensive because it shows sweat as being almost unnatural and that its wrong to be sweaty. of course its bad to sweat, but to sweat non stop for years on end where u cant do anything about it is bad enough without an advert highlighting this even more!

I also saw this advert, and felt a bit uneasy.
Its not very considerate of people really is it !?! :?
Its like when my friends (who don't know about HH) go "eww he/she has sweat patches" i'm like "yeah, so..." sweat is seen as something really distgusting, but it's not. The only part of it that really could be considered distgusting is the smell, but again, there isn't allways much you can do about it is there.

lynx

lynx has got that advert with the man who sweats so much he can keep fish alive under his arms. thats less offensive, i find, than the one before with the men who have water gushin outta their underarms whenever they lift them. but yeah this advert is more humorous cos of the focus on the fish and i dunno, but it kinda looks at sweat in a positive way, he keeps fish alive! thats a good thing!

but still, its pretty horrible to watch cos its a bit rude on hh sufferers...and it makes me feel weird wen im sat watchin the advert with my bf, who doesnt know i have hh, and hoping he wont make a comment about how its gross etc. i wish that anti perspirant would stop me sweating!

I too find this advert offensive

I reckon Lynx should be done for trade descriptions......all i can think of when i see that advert is how useless lynx is for people who sweat more than average and completely useless for those who sweat alot. For example i bet if there was an advert for a car showing it did 200mph but only actually did 75mph, i bet they would be asked to change it!

But the worst thing i think about the advert is the impression it gives everyone that it is so easily stopped....one quick spray and you never sweat all day, if only it was that easy
