Not having Facebook

Does anyone else feel lame for not having Facebook? When people ask me and I tell them I don't have one, I feel it's practically the same as saying I have no social life, which isn't true (although I don't go out to clubs and whatever as much as most people my age). I sort of want to make one, but there would only be like, 3 people who'd message me regularly, so what would be the point? Does anyone else feel the same? Does not having one sound pathetic, or am I imagining that?

I felt the same way about it not too long ago. I don't think many people on there really have that much going on anyways if they've got time to post their status from their cellphone. I have one myself but I never have anything important to post on there, just random thoughts and pictures. ::eek::

I didn't have facebook until about a year ago, but I never felt bad for not having one. Now that I do have facebook, every single person on my list is someone I met online, since I have zero real life friends.

I have a Facebook profile but I never use it. The most it's used for these days are happy birthday messages from old friends every year.

I considered deleting it when Facebook started showing those "help make Facebook better for him" messages. But I decided the stalking abilities shouldn't be given up so hastily ;)

I could never understand why is it a shame to not have enough people on Facebook. I seem to have some unique world view or what.

I don't have a facebook or a myspace. If I did I probably wouldn't use it much anyway. It seems that to really use those sites to there fullest I would have to pack it full of interests and hobbies and things like that. I don't put all that stuff out there for all to see.

I throw down on Facebook as well. Its just an easy way of communicating with friends without having to talk on the phone constantly lol. I am very weird about it though because I wont just accept any friend request nor do I send them out left and right, I have to know them and like them before I will let them on there. I know that sounds very dumb but that is the way I feel about. Also there have been a few I have met on sites like these that I dont mind being on there because I enjoy chatting with them. For the most part everyone I have on my friends list there I know pretty well or knew them pretty well at one time while growing up. It really gets on my nerves when you see people on there who have a 5000 or a thousand friends because you know they don't know all of them. Some people do it just to try to look cool in my opinion. I could not care less if I had 5 people on mine, lmao

You've actually got a point. Ive got people who've added me on FB that I know for a fact didn't like me in high school. I thought that they were trying to reach out but even now when I talk to some of them I don't even get a response. I think it's time I start to clean my list out.

I really like having a FB, it allows me to talk with friends without actually talking to them....you know, in person.

I agree with Emily G. Something like FB is just what I needed. Without it I would have no idea what people I know or used to know were doing! So it's very interesting :)

I wish I felt secure enough to have one to an extent. I had facebook for a while before it got really popular. I think what's the worst for me is being tagged in photos. So, I just deleted my account all together. A few people ask me about it sometimes and tell me to get it back, but I just say "Yeaaaah, I don't know." I also, just in general, think that social networking sites, especially facebook, are faaaaar too... hm, clingy? Can't find a good word. Just that every button you touch on facebook is basically displayed. So annoying. Facebook and Privacy aren't one in the same.

Yeah, I agree. You can really crack down on what is displayed with their privacy controls. But it still feels "clingy" as you say. There's just something about it that makes me a little uncomfortable -- like it's Big Brother.

i have one and i've just posted links to my favourite music videos and a few personal photographs i've taken and some funny photos and a couple of photos of me. i dont have photos of me on any adventures or out partying and i dont think i'd put them on facebook anyway because its to personal. i hardly ever use it. i;m fairly private though anyway.

I like using facebook. As everyone has beein saying it allows me to communicate with family and friends quickly without having to call or see them in person. Plus Ive found many old friends/coworkers and family on there!
