Non-SA/SP People treating SA/SP people like children

Have anyone of you got the impression that Relatives, Coworkers, friends (aka acquaintants) treat you like children? With relatives giving showing you more emotions (or whatever) and coworkers/friends, for instance, greeting you with a wink as if you are a five year old. Upon this, I get an email from a friend with the following "Its good to hear from you boy." He's three years younger than me, but extroverted as one can get, and he calls me "boy." What gives?

I understand what you mean... although for myself, I wouldnt say a child but more of a "Special Case"... from my parents and co workers... I managed to prove otherwise to my friends... It's weird when it feels like your boss is treating you like a special case compared to the other employees... that's why I quit my last job.. I want to get a legitimate job where I will be treated equally like the other employees.... Be congratulated on good achevements and be screamed at for doing something wrong... (instead of "Well... you see.... you kinda... skrewed up.... I know it's not your fault, but i'm not happy... etc..."

Yes! I've felt like that with every job I've had (well, the ones that have lasted longer than a day). People always seem to treat me like I'm going to break, and I always end up feeling like a wee kid. I'm the 'quiet one' or the 'mouse'. True enough, but I can work as well as they can!

I dont know really if we should.. because like i said earlier, with my boss and co workers.. I never actually told them.. it was as if they just knew... which made it worst... but just directly telling them that YES IT IS A DISORDER THAT I HAVE might either make them treat you MORE like a "Special case" or make you boss literaly fire you... :(

I know what you mean. During my honours year at university, my supervisor used to make phone calls for me, whereas for her other honours student, she used to order him to ring. Once, I thought I stuffed up a really expensive instrument. It was the weekend and she was there at university. I asked her to see if she could fix it and said no. On the Monday she gave me the option of me telling the expert about the problem or she telling. I made her tell, but that's beside the point. (What I thought was my fault was a software problem that happened quite often.).
