Just found this site.

I'm a shy person. I'm not ashamed, actually kinda proud of it because it's a part of who I am. It does cause me problems sometimes . . . I don't have many friends . . . People think I'm awkward. Sometimes, when something is really important to me, I'm brave, so I'm not shy all the time.

I've read about Social Anxiety Disorder. I probably have it. When I was in school, a psychiatrist diagnosed me with a social disorder and an anxiety disorder, but that was before SAD existed as a diagnosis. I prefer to call myself 'shy' and live with it rather than spend years and years trying to 'cure' myself.

Anyway, hello to forum members.

I glad you proud to be shy, even with all of its problems attach to it. :) Also, I whether be labeled "shy" than to cure it, too. Althrough, it can be depressing and frustrating at times. :?

I'm looking forward to being a part of it all. :)

Hello ShXP

Welcome to the forum. It's refreshing to hear that someone is proud, rather than ashamed of being shy. I think learning to accept who we are and not viewing our shyness as a negative/shameful thing, actually gets rid of 50% of the stress and anxiety.

I agree. There are so many books, for instance, out there written on how to overcome shyness. I've only come across one or two books ever that write about the necessity of accepting it and living happily with it.

Thanks for the kind welcomes. A very sincere bunch.

I must warn you though, I do enjoy those smiley guys . . .
