New Year's Eve

It's here again - one of the days when anyone who's anyone is supposed to be out partying all night.

Unfortunately I have no party or friends I'll be meeting. Someone asked me what I was doing for new years. I said "Going out in Covent Garden". The reason being that someone did invite me there but it was through Facebook and sent to 200 people.

So now I'm trying to come up with a good lie for when I return to work on Wednesday.

Tell me about it. I used to loathe this time of year, but as the years have gone on I care less and less about it. I make a point of telling people that I celebrate the shunning of NYE.

I've been reading Russell Brand's autobiography and was interested to read that he too always hated NYE because he always felt like an outsider watching others being happy and having fun when all he wanted to do was be sad.

God don't feel bad, Ney Years eve is the most over rated night of the year - ITS CRAP!!!! if I was you I would say that you went to a relatives house and had a party or say your sick or say you had been out the night before and was too hung over to bother with it. I know that pressure of having to say you did something exciting, so annoying. People feel it's socially unacceptable to say I didn't do anything! why is that? anyway sometimes it's easier to just make up a lie because then you don't draw as much attention to it, just say it was great and throw the conversation back onto them asking them what did they do.

I see it as any other night of the year..I'll be sitting at home, alone.
My mum and my sister are out shopping to get her a new years eve outfit.........I'll just sit around here in my childish outfits as she calls them....eat a marshmallow...party on :p

Just another day. I'll be working until 11PM. The only difference about this particular day is that you start to think about 2008, wondering how it'll be for you, what sort of things you will or will not accomplish, dreams and resolutions, etc.

Every 'occasion' seems to be an excuse for people to get wasted and subsequently act stupid. Save your money for things that matter, people. Stop acting like such sheep.

New years eve is my most disliked time of the year. At least you don't have to go to work the next day, so you don't usually get asked what you did.

Like everyone else I don't see the point of celebrating the start of a new year. Perhaps that is just a justification for not doing anything, if we were party animals I'm sure we would love it.

The new year really gets me depressed. I think of what I didn't accomplish during the year and all the time that was wasted.

I totally agree with everybody, it is a very overrated day but it's been made to be that way, just yet another excuse to go out and get drunk. I think it would be just nice to be with a group of close friends and family just sharing a quiet drink together with some light entertainment just so that we can see the new year in together, i'm sure this still happens.

I find New years eve to be really depressing because i think about the year i have wasted, and i'm really pessimistic about what the new year holds.

Wait, what?

It's New years eve?

/palm-to-forehead "Of course!"

Well its just another day. If people ask then I'll tell them the truth, to me it means nothing anymore other than the oppotunity to put people off-balanced (nothing like 'I was crying and drowning my sorrows, no really' with a smile).

Another year prehaps, but the story remains the same.

I'm not a great fan of New Year's Eve either. I find the post XMAS period to be one big anticlimax.

Like on birthdays, it reminds me that another year has been lost to SP, and that the year ahead will more than likely follow suit.

Having had SP for over a decade now, it's had to have any hope that one day I will be leading the kind of life I want (although I think I can just about detect a little bit of hope still left in me, just ).

God, I was tucked up in bed asleep, all nice and warm, and some stupid people decided to let fireworks off and disrupted my slumber....I hate New Years Eve...perhaps I should have a sign out front saying, Social Phobic sleeping, celebrate quietly :p

Never, ever celebrated NYE/new years eve, I was home alone as always! I celebrate watching others celebrating and partying hard! I do not feel so bad cause it usually the young ones! But what will I give to celebrate quietly with very special people/small circle of friends!Alas, maybe next time! 8O

I went out. I didn't want too. I hate the fact that I have to be happy and celebrate the new year. It pisses me of. Why do I have to be happy and yell. Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh well. Thank god we have another year to wait for it again

Exactly. I want to be one of those people who enjoy's going out, getting drunk and not remembering a thing the next day. Perhaps a sexually transmitted disease and some sort of addition would be good also. I'm just too sensible to do any of therse things.

As Morrissey put it, 'I want to live and I want to love, I want to catch something that I might be ashamed of'.
