Dont you find the frustrating thing is that nobody in the outside world understands, even if you try and explain

Hi Nadine,

It is frustrating that people do not understand and really if you think about it how could they if they are not in your shoes. However, never give up hope because there is always going to be someone who will understand to a certain point and accept you for who you are.... :)

Hey Annie,

When I say people I meant the people who I used to work with, I had a fab job & it just took a little understanding to keep me there. My frustration is that I dont want my career to be left in the hands of others understanding me. I want to take control of my life and get to the places I want to go. I have people who understand love and care for me, that concludes of my partner, my mum, my dad and sister. I want my life to expand further than this though, just wanting to be normal and to fill my potental. Looking forward to diagnosis then hopefully recovery.

Hi Nadine,

Seems like you have a pretty positive attitude. The fact that you say "I want to take control of my life and get to the place I want to go" says alot to me. You will get there some day. Recovery will come with hope and faith.

Good luck!

annie :)

how are they supposed to understand us? for example can we undersatnd gays? i can't despite sometimes i think there must be something wrong so that they are gays. unfortunately people are unaware of many things in this life. i am sure if weren't SA patients we wouldn't understand people with SA. it is simple as that.

You know whats done it for me Annie being in denile for so long, thinking i was the only one experiencing these problems, not knowing what it was, finding this site and realising I am not alone, I dont know how I am going to overcome this as our symptoms you can not help (for the life of you, you can not help them) but im sure going to try, I have not yet been diagnosed but am looking forward to September when I see a specialist. Hoping they will shed some light

They dont want to understand, I tryed to explain even in laymans terms what I could and could not do, and still they expected me to do it. I do understand gays they are attracted to the same sex and that is it, some of them may have hangups about that and others dont there is nothing wrong with them/that. All there is to understand about social phobia is that some one has a fear, and they could not do that.

I think it is ignorance.

thks :D , i'm not a fan of alcohol, but wth, lol, i might follow that advice next time i am having a first date, (or asking out to a date, lol). good to hear your in a good relationship- 8)

Probabley not the best advice I have given on this website, but if it is right you will just click and not need alcohol for the next date, they will sense something is wrong and hopfully put you at ease
